Not a peep from Computer Brent today.....and tomorrow I will be gone ALL DAY - first to see a matinee of the musical TITANIC.....and then to watch a rehearsal of the dance numbers from HELLO DOLLY! and talk to the cast members about their makeup......

I hope if the call comes at home - somebody will pick up my computer for me.  Of course i work Thursday and Friday, so I couldn't pick it up then.....

Today on my train ride in, I finished Neil Gaiman's AMERICAN GODS and I have to say it was a completely wonderful read!  Aside from the breakneck unfolding of the plot (it seemed to me that something happened on almost every page), I was amazed at Gaiman's ability to bring each and everyone of his huge cast of characters to such vivid life, including his main protagonist who is essentially a cipher for most of the book and yet is so charismatic that I developed a little crush on him.)  For me, there were only two lulls in the book, but that might have been a results of reading those sections after not getting enough of a good night's sleep the night before.  And I was glad that I have a healthy education in mythology--it seems that a lot of people reading the book are reporting on Twitter that they are thrown by their lack of knowledge of the various gods and god-like figures. Jeeze--didn't these people ever read a THOR comic?

I do hope you're following this up with Anansi Boys. . .

Tell me, have you read Neil Gaiman's SANDMAN series?
Have you read Good Omens?
Do you read Terry Pratchett as well?

I also really liked Gaiman's The Graveyard Book. . .

I was thinking about going to New York in August, but after looking at the brochure for the NACDL meeting in Toronto in August decided that's what I want to do instead.  I've never been there and it's tax deductible.  It looks like a good meeting with time for fun too

I have to choreograph a DIFFERENT hula number today, my sister doesn't think the one I have done will work.....finish the trivia questions....

And since I am attending a performance of TITANIC THE MUSICAL tomorrow - and working Thursday and Friday....I have to get it finished today.....without my computer.

I totally forgot to point out how wonderful the Olympia Brain's Rod was. The actor did a fantastic job with the role, and I think I may have liked his performance even more then the LA Rod (which is saying a lot, since the LA Rod was really quite wonderful).

Kudos also to the Olympia Brain's Donna. I enjoyed watching her as well. A few times she was a bit too hyperactive, but otherwise I thought she did quite nicely.

And DR George, next time, if there is a next time, that a theatre in your area does THE BRAIN..try out for the part of Private Parts. I just know you could do a great job with that part!

Mike, what about our favorite chorus boy?

Well, we have to make a hospital call this afternoon.  Our DN (dear niece) & Goddaughter Lauren has finished up the college year with a respiratory infection and probable pneumonia.  Some healing vibes would be appreciated!

VIBES TO GINNY'S DN GD LAUREN!

I am done for the day.  By the way (BTW, in Internet lingo), the two or three of you who were kind enough to order Legend of the Lost will automatically get replacement copies.  All our invoices are being picked up tomorrow and they'll address and send right from the plant.

Here it is on Foxnews.com

New York City authorities have evacuated parts of Times Square once again due to a suspicious package, police tell FoxNews.com.

Authorities tell Fox News the suspicious package was called in at 9:06 p.m. ET, though the package is believed to be garbage, NBC New York reports.

The evacuation comes on the heels of an attempted car bombing in Times Square on May 1.

It was evacuated. I just came from Times Square. I don't know any details but I couldn't go from Broadway and 46th to Broadway and 47th due to police activity.

When I went down, I finished MURDER AHOY. An enjoyable Rutherford/Maraple romp but probably the least effective of the four Marple films she made.

I watched two episodes of the new season of THE TUDORS this evening. So I'm ready for Episode Four now. I had some problems with Episode Three: I don't buy for a second Henry's asking the divorced Anne of Cleves to go to bed wth him, since he found her so repellent that he never consummated the marriage. I know he became friendlier with her after the divorce and she was a well-liked figure, but I didn't buy the bed thing at all. I'm also not fond of Catherine Howard, who's just a little too Valley Girl for my taste. God knows she was a moron and the stupidest of all six wives, but she's just a bit too dumb and gauche to buy as someone an ambitious family could foist off on Henry.

I didn't feel like LAW & ORDER, so I watched a couple of BONES episodes from disc one in the second season set, the disc I skipped when I was rewatching BONES a couple of weeks ago. The story where Booth is wrestling with a new boy friend for his former girl friend now involved in his young son's life was very touching and the case was a good one.

I agree with all of your opinions. Of course, the liberties being taken with the story now seem pretty frequent.

Even better was the BONES episode where skeletons of a young mother and her baby are found. This had one of the most surprising twists ever in a BONES episode, and it's one of the best of the season's episodes from a mystery point of view.
