Well, you've read the notes, the notes had meat on them, and now it is time for you to post until the meaty cows come home.

Topic of the Day:  I don't know if this actually introduced any of the actors, but "The Big Chill" was certainly early in the careers of many of them.

Robert Altman was probably my favorite director of ensemble films and while I knew the stars of "McCabe and Mrs. Miller" before seeing the movie, I loved being introduced to the likes of Rene Auberjonois, John Schuck, Keith Carradine, Shelley Duvall, Michael Murphy and who knows how many others I've enjoyed over the years.

Glad to read you're feeling better after your food poisoning, BK. In my 12 years of reviewing restaurants, I think I only ever had food poisoning twice from someone I had to review. That's mercifully small, yet both loom large in the memory.

Thanks, George, for posting the additional review of the show.

BK,

I'm glad you're feeling better, but sometimes you come up with the most difficult topics.

 ;)

Does CITIZEN KANE count?

Certainly that ensemble cast was unknown to movie audiences when it was made.

One of my all-time favorite movies is L.A. CONFIDENTIAL.  Most of the ensemble cast was well known, but the two leading men (Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce) were virtually newcomers to American audiences.

Tuesday morning greetings!  We were up early this morning for Richard to help with the opening flag ceremony for our local Special Olympics.  He was the only one at the meeting place and finally determined that it's scheduled for Thursday morning, not Tuesday.

I have only seen THE GROUP on television....on Encore, I think, and it is most enjoyable.  All of the women are well cast.  I haven't read the book, but I like the movie.   There was some book about movies where the writer visited the set and talked about the casting of the movie and lots of things - can't remember the book or the author - but he was there the day the crew was discussing the figures of the leading ladies....one unnamed cast member walked by, and a crew member said, under his breath:  "Two aspirin on an ironing board."

Good morning, all! I have a fast trek to Toyland this morning.

I've been up since 7:15, dealing with McGlinn CDs, bills, and getting things fready for the post office. I believe I will walk down to Columbus and 68th, mail my packages and then head to Toyland. After that i need to visit our Skip Kennon to deliver some music, and head home to work on Toyland reports.

That's my big day out and about.

Today on my train ride in, I finished Neil Gaiman's AMERICAN GODS and I have to say it was a completely wonderful read!  Aside from the breakneck unfolding of the plot (it seemed to me that something happened on almost every page), I was amazed at Gaiman's ability to bring each and everyone of his huge cast of characters to such vivid life, including his main protagonist who is essentially a cipher for most of the book and yet is so charismatic that I developed a little crush on him.)  For me, there were only two lulls in the book, but that might have been a results of reading those sections after not getting enough of a good night's sleep the night before.  And I was glad that I have a healthy education in mythology--it seems that a lot of people reading the book are reporting on Twitter that they are thrown by their lack of knowledge of the various gods and god-like figures. Jeeze--didn't these people ever read a THOR comic?

Good morning!

A bit warmer for the walk this morning, and I was glad. Moderately cool temperatures are hanging around today (we're also supposed to get some rain this morning, but it hasn't started yet).

Like THE GROUP, THE CHAPMAN REPORT also introduced some wonderful actresses to the world. Both movies have their virtues without being superb.

I'll be working on that Steven Seagal movie today for my work project. It's only 93 minutes and again doesn't appear to have any bonus features so it should be an easy work day.

On the DVR, I have last night's CHUCK, CASTLE, and NURSE JACKIE. The latter I'll watch when I go back down. I'll watch CASTLE while I eat lunch. I'll save CHUCK either for later tonight or later this week.

Tonight has NCIS, GLEE, LOST, and, of course, IDOL. They're singing songs from the movies tonight, and with only four contestants left, each one is singing two songs.

Yes, when I was stricken with food poisoning, I had no appetite for a couple of days, and then when it came back, it came back strong and I couldn't find enough food to put in my stomach.
