TOD: The finale to "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer" is still my favorite all-time series ender. "Lost" is a close second.
I couldn't stand "Seinfeld," but I watched the finale. I guess it was a great ending for a show I never liked...at least the characters got what I thought they deserved. Hope they're all still in that jail cell...unwashed, unfed and still arguing about stupid stuff.
Loved "Newhart" and "Friends" finales. The "Frasier" finale was good but sad. I don't remember the end of "Cheers" or "Taxi", but I know I watched 'em.
As for "M*A*S*H, I remember being underwhelmed after all the hype. It's a show I couldn't bear to watch in re-runs, though.
"Mary Tyler Moore Show" was my favorite comedy show farewell, bar none.
I've read a lot of reports today about how "Lost" didn't do so well compared to all the "powerhouse" show finales. I think it significant that EVERY finale it was compared to was a half-hour sitcom. Hmmmm...let's see....a 2 1/2-hour fantasy drama didn't do as well in the ratings as a bunchy of half-hour sitcoms? Geez...go figger!
I'd be more interested in how it compared to other "dramatic" shows.
OTOH, it's phenomenal that a show like "Lost" did as well as it did...and always with quality in its writing, acting, production and music..
