13 1/2 hours at work today - but at least it was a really bad day

It was only 11 1/2 for me and well, ditto on the rest of it. I share your exhaustion.

Good Evening!

Well... I woke up this morning after I heard some various beeps and buzzes and my radio turning on.  Apparently, ConEd was doing yet more work on the block this morning.  So, after resetting all the clocks in the apartment (again), and completing my morning ablutions, I headed out for the day since I was not in the mood to deal with blinking lights and possible power surges.

I'm thinking about seeng SATC2 tomorrow, if I can fit it into my schedule.

I believe I'm going to try to catch the 10:00am showing in either your 'hood or down at Lincoln Square.  It's only $6.00 before noon - and I really don't want to pay more than $6.00 to see "SATC2". Of course, I hope that the 10:00 showings are still available.  Some of the screenings here in NYC were already sold out as early as last Saturday.

Good morning, all! Today's only Thursday and I would swear it is Friday. And I soound like Gertrude Stein.

Today is another McGlinnventory day, followed by a couple of hours of editing with Mr Skip Kennon. I've got some newly copied scores taken from the Victor Herbert song manuscripts to edit and lyrics to decipher. I got one song back from my copyist Dan and I left the entire vocal line clear because he couldn't read Herbert's handwriting. I deciphered all but one word, and here's the phrase with the missing word:
When the sun in golden splendor
   Sinks behind the distant hills
   Then a __________ sweetly tender
   All my inward beng thrills

The word in question is two syllables. On the score it looks as if it's all composed of small case c's, a's, and s's but it's a word like "feeling" or "passion" with the stress on the first syllable. I'm taking the score to the office to enlarge the line on the copier to see if I can decipher it. I need my thesaurus.

I couldn't remember all that Ford had directed, so I went to www.imdb.com. I don't think I know that he directed "Wee Willie Winkie." While there, I found a half-hour film of Ford's available for free download called "Sex Hygiene." It was a WWII VD flick for the troops (sort of the non-musical version of "The Good-Time Girl" from "Over Here!"). I watched a few minutes and was surprised that it was as explicit as it was, not in terms of the sex. Enjoy: http://www.archive.org/details/SEX.HYGIENE

Again, it is quite graphic.

O!M!G!

I watched that film in high school!!!

And why did I happen to watch that movie in high school - and at a private Catholic high school at that!?!?  Well...

My English teacher was also an actor - as well as the Drama Teacher & Director for the school.  One of his most "memorable" gigs - besides getting some prominent background time in the movie "Diner" - was in a series of instructional movies and posters for the U.S. Army. And one of those movies was an update of "Sex Hygiene". -And, yes, the update was actually a bit less explicit than the original.

I won't post any spoilers. I'll just say that as a whole SATC2 was too long for me and lots of it could have been cut.  BUT...there were a few scenes that made it more than worth the price of the tickets.  I laughed and laughed

That seems to be the general consensus among everyone who's seen the movie so far - including those that really, really liked it.

DR Elmore: Is the word "caress"?

Actually caress is a good choice for Victor's handwriting, but the accent is on the wrong syllable. To fit musically it has to be a 2-syllable word with the accent on the first syllable like "trembling" or "passion." Where's my Roget?

Carcass?

It was so weird they had Jennifer Love Hewitt hosting the VIEW yesterday. They brought up GHOST WHISPERER but did not mention it was cancelled or if ABC was picking it up. I wonder when they have till to decide.

I saw a bit of that interview, too and wondered if she would say anything.  Everything that I've read has said that it's cancelled...no question. :-\
