the boycot must be having an impact if they are having to lay people off.

I only read about hotels not being as full, how much of that is due to the economy or the boycott I'm not really sure.

How about the fact that it is JUNE?

Are you saying tourism declines in June due to the heat. ;)

You can get really cheap rates in the summer.  I've been thinking about going....but I'd have to do it quietly so no one knows I'm not boycotting, lol

We are a little over one month away from the first mandated furlough day, and the State of Washington has still not decided who is going to be furloughed.

Back from the rest of my errands.  I had to get a new battery for the iPhone - turns out they don't do new batteries, they just give you a new phone.  So, I got a new 3G, but I also upgraded to the new 3GS which, for reasons unknown, was $100 less than it usually is - so the new phone cost only 97 bucks - pretty amazing.  And a friend wanted my old one, and they're paying me fifty bucks, so net cost around forty-seven bucks.

I will say that the 3GS is hugely faster in navigation.  Unfortunately, my last computer save was in April, so all the apps loaded post April weren't there, but I found them all (all free) and got them back.  And I got one new app the Apple guy told me about - a car navigation app that speaks to you just like a GPS.  Pretty cool.  Taking a long time to download but I'm really happy to have it.

DR Jane, re: the GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO movie.  Just keep in mind that there will be graphic violence and some minor plot changes (and the ending). But other than that i think you'll like it!

I wonder if they are still making a US version?

DR JOHN G - a DVD of DOCTOR ATOMIC from the Netherlands - with a lot of the cast that also did the Met production - is the only one available that I can find.

The Met version was staged differently with a different set and costumes....and is even better.  I have the Netherlands version - but I want the MET!!!!

Just checked the library website. It was the Amsterdam version I saw. Sorry.

LOL.  During the boycott of all things French we got a fantastic deal at the beautiful & expensive Hotel Sofitel Los Angeles.  When we pulled up to the hotel we noticed they had removed the French Flag.

When we had a major league baseball team here I was a really big fan.

This is an interesting ending to a rather upsetting turn of events yesterday.

A pitcher was one out away from a perfect game. And the ump made a bad call, which was huge.

The ump feels terrible. But I am very impressed with how the pitcher is handling it. You would think he would be crushed. But wow he is really being great about it.
