Yesterday morning, ConEd knocked on our door to inform us that they were in the final stages of the work they've been working on over the past couple of weeks - well, months at this point. Alas, in order to complete the work, they had to "re-route" the power to the building. Thankfully, we have not been without all power over the past 48 hours, however, for the past 48 hours, all four units in this building have essentially been running off a large extension cord from the main line in/under(?) the street.

We're supposed to be fully back online sometime tomorrow, and once that happens, well... Then I can return to my regularly scheduled internet surfing and reading and posting without fear of a power surge knocking out my computer - which, alas, did happen to one of our upstairs neighbors.

In the meantime, I've been using my offline time to take care of some long overdue cleaning and organizing, as well as getting reacquainted with various museums and public spaces in New York City.

Thanks, DR Laura. It actually hasn't been that bad. None of the "hard wiring" has been affected, so we've had lights and appliances. However, most of the wall outlets have been turned off/disconnected the past two days, so we've been taking turns re-charging our cell phones and computers. And on the bright side, ConEd is giving us a two-week service credit on our next bill for the inconvenience.

Thankfullly - again - there is actually a designated A/C outlet in our apartment, and that one did not have to be re-routed/wired. So, if we did have to turn on the A/C, we would have been able to. But as DR vixmom mentioned, it's been on the cool side the past two days, so..
