Thank you, Ron.  And there is this part, as well.

Beyond The Rainbow

As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wonderous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful--lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright.
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright glow pierced the night.
'Twas the glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no human eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

Druxy, re:  the epistle to Dr. Laura--please note the author's surname, always a guarantee of wit and sagacity.  :)

Laura:  we've been here almost a week, plus it takes 5 days to drive back, so leave we must.

So sorry to hear the news DR MBARNUM.  Both you and DD BOSCO were blessed to have found each other.

DR WOODY originally posted the link to the Rainbow Bridge, but it was a blessing to read it again when DD MISS BLUE MOON passed away.

It was indeed a blessing that Bosco was home until the moment......thoughts and prayers for you.

There is actually a whole new movement in veterinary care where they do at home euthanasia, for wont of a better word.  We've always been lucky to have had personal relationships with our vets, and we've always asked them to come to our homes to put our dogs to sleep when it was time.  As sad as it's been, it's given us comfort to know their final moments were in comfortable, familiar settings.

I remember when we were missing Echo and it was comforting to hike with Bosco, who truly was an exceptional boy.

Keith, Sherlock and I send you our heartlfelt condolences.

Dog lovers here will probably not be disgusted by this. But a couple of days ago I was at the park where the bike path I ride on is.

There was this guy walking his dog. It was a little bit hot out. But not like the heat wave we had last week.  Anyhow there was an outdoor water fountain. And this guy let his dog put his mouth in the fountain and slobber/drink out of it.  Now just thinking of all the little kids who slobber out of that fountain ... yuck.

Anyhow there is a dish attached by a chain on that water fountain. So after the guy let his dog slobber in the fountain. He put water in the dish and let the dog drink out of it.

Echo used to drink very daintily from drinking fountains with more grace than most people.  Even if Sherlock could jump up there I would not permit it.

I am not a big fan of big mean dogs. But I don't like the idea of that guy smacking or cursing at the dog.

And that could explain the dogs behavior.  If I were jogging I would not want to get too close to a dog as I passed.  Running straight at them can make them feel threatened.

Are we talking about a drinking fountain or a fountain fountain?  If a drinking fountain, did the guy let his dog drink out of the bowl of the fountain or let his dog slurp water off the spigot of the fountain?  If the guy let his dog drink from the bowl of the fountain which is nothing more than a receptacle for the water the mouth does not catch or drink coming from the fountain spigot, then I see no problem with this.

If the dog put his mouth or tongue on the spigot that might be unsanitary, but it would certainly be just as unsanitary for a child to drink  this way or to slobber from the bowl of the fountain...or any fountain for that matter.  I would be much more concerned about a parent who would let their child's mouth touch a fountain spigot or drink from the receiving bowl of a drinking fountain or drink from any kind of fountain in which God knows what kind of debris blows in it, has been placed in it, what other kinds of animals or birds have dabbled in it.

A dog is the least of a parent's worry about a public fountain...after all, a dog's mouth is supposedly cleaner than a human's...

This made me chuckle. :)

DR Cilla next year I'm celebrating your birthday with you-yum! ;)

Quote
It was, actually.  I was kind of moody for a while.  I told the woman sitting next to me tonight that I was a bit draggy and I thought it was the weather. .  She said, "Oh, like your birthday doesn't have anything to do with that...you'll be fine tomorrow"  It made me laugh.  It's all been better since then.

Oh it's just a little tornadic activity....don't hide under a bridge...people die that way

Topic of the Day:  I've never been much of a Beatles fan, but I like some of what they've done...however, two songs that I just really don't like (and I don't know why) are "Michelle" and "Yesterday."  I can't listen to them.

:P

George, I'm halfway there with you.  While I have nothing against Michelle, I have never liked Yesterday.

Am in complete agreement with George. "These are words that go together well" or whatever the line is just grates on my nerves when I hear that song. And the flat French ... Well, there are better songs.

I've been rearranging shelves to hold the scores I'm bringing home from the McGlinnventory. I need another wing, but I'd settle for one more room. The tv is taken over by tributes to George Steinbrenner, and I think it's gone on too long.
I lived in upstate New York while Steinbrenner was actively involved in ruining the Yankees. We would love going to games and cheering on whomever the Yankees were playing.
