I was just reading the Mike Tyson interview where he said his whole life has been a f__king waste.

It may be the first and only time I have ever agreed with him on anything.

Yeah, getting off these pages these days is like pulling teeth.  I blame FJL, who should at least stop by and say hello and let us know he's fine, and I certainly blame Jose - not to mention JMK.  I do think I know why Jose left - and I wish someone had at least e-mailed me about it (I don't think it had anything to do with me and/or the site, but with another problem - and somehow I think someone here probably knew about it).  But he's happy in his own little Jose World on Facebook.  Of course, that negates the, what, oh seven years of support and kindness that he got on this board, but who's counting.

Laura, they could do an entire reality show based on your exciting life.  If we combined our lives, we might be good for two episodes.

Has anyone read "A Lesson Before Dying" by Ernest Gaines?  It is not a self help book, at least I don't think it is.

My friend wants to send it to me and I'm deciding if she should.

My friend also has "Daughter of Iraq" and "River of Doubt".  I know DR Cilla read River and liked it.  Any feedback on these?  I don't want her to send me the books if I won't like them.

I had a friend come over and set it up for me.  Three days later, I tore the whole thing apart and mvoed it into the bedroom on my own.  The living room / dining room / hall and kitchen area was to big an area for this little 7000 btu air conditioner to try and cool down.

I thought it rolled around and fit through doorways.  Often we only turn the air on in our bedroom, not today though.  Keith has the entire house cooled down :(

I cannot offer any advice on those books either, Jane. But I might suggest "Dragonflies of Oregon" as an excellent book.

In the past couple of weeks, I have read two or three stories online and watched one report on the evening news about these hommeade chemical plastic bombs.  Now, I understand the need to warn people to stay away from these things; but at the same time aren't we giving some of these local whack jobs ideas that they might not have had on their own?

That is the impression that they give when you buy one, but once you read the instructions, you find out that you have to vent these things to the outside.  You could vent it out a slider, or in my case, out the bedroom window.

Actually, no where on the shipping box does it show the air conditioner being vented to a window.  Hmm.

I knew you had to vent it outside because DS Bryan told me that.  I still thought it fit through doors.  Would you still have purchased it had you known?
