This article explains the situation, including why it exists, of the dogs in Romania and why I am such an advocate of the American woman who wants to stop the population growth: http://animalrights.suite101.com/article.cfm/stray-dogs-killed-in-romania-animal-advocates-fight-back

Kidz!!! I'm up in the air on an Alaska Airlines plane, on my way back to Seattle, after an 11-day trip for a major Tina crisis - upshot is -- Alaska Air has free wireless internet, WAY above the earth!!! I love this!!!

My siblings visited Tina on July 4 - I had been gone for 5 weeks - and they were aghast at her shocking weight loss - she had lost about 25 pounds since I left - nobody else had gone to see her, and she was missing me pretty badly. She hates living at the old folks assissted living place, and was in a terrible state.

Calling Doctor Penny! I got on a plane and have been there since July 9 -- found her a townhouse, got her to a doctor, lotsa crazy stuff... I'll go back down in about 3 weeks.

A really nice perk was that I could go to Rogue Machine Theatre to see my peeps, see the opening weekend of the world premier Steven Sater piece, see the west coast premier of our first late-night show of the season, work box office for all three plays, attend the 13th chapter of our literary evening, Rant and Rave, AND attend the playwrights' group last night.

Car and flight were paid for, since I had to put in about 35 hours on the Tina mission...

and here I am, in a science fiction movie, typing away and communicating with y'all by internet, ON A PLANE!!!

Hi Penny! I'm so glad you are able to take care of Tina. But what happens to her when she lives alone in a townhouse? Does anyone take care of her?

I had another hostile round of emails with a former DR this morning, one of DR Noel's nemeses on another chatboard.

Steve Newport was a DR?   ;D

No. One of Stevie's best friends is a former DR.

Buzzy or Bebe or whatever his name was?

Or Spelvin?

It's not the one who stopped posting because of the new format, was it?

He's English and he never posted here under the new format

Oh.  That one.  The Academic.  I thought he was Canadian.

He lives in Canada now. He came there from England.

Good morning, all! I was up before the alarm went off because I was havng the weirdest soap opera dream, which ran between a summer camp (clearly a residual of reading THEATER GEEK) and a doemstic drama involving a dead dog. I cannot make sense of it now but it was bizarre.

This morning, back to the McGlinnventory, and then I meet with Joshie, who wants me to look over a piece he just orchestrated. He's very good, so it will be fun to talk about choices, his concerns, and other options. I'm sure it will be fine. I can get very very very neurotic about my work before it's finally heard, as BK can attest from his many sessions with me.

Speaking of which, BK, thanks fo the lovely post about LOST IN BOSTON on Facebook! Now that everything's out of print, I still buy used copies of all our albums on eBay, Amazon, and SecondSpin. I'm waiting for the LOST IN BOSTON Hollywood Bowl concert series.

I have to get myself ready to leave this dump.  DR Ben, July 30 is great!

DR Ben, March 23 is okay, too.

Is that your scheduled arrival date in Manhattan?

No.  It just seemed like a nice day.

I saw Andy Devine in a movie last night:  I watched MYRA BRECKINRIDGE.  I thought of BK when I saw Hamburger Hamlet in the opening credits.

Andy Devine was in MYRA BRECKINRIDGE?

Yep, playing poker with John Huston, following a scene featuring Kathleen Freeman!

Good news!

Back from my volunteer admin meeting.  It's a brownbag lunch, but 11:30 is a little early for me for lunch, so I stopped at Taco Bell after the meeting.  There was no one at the counter to wait on customers and the first thing I heard was a male voice from the direction of the drive-thru say, "S**t, why don't all these people just go away?"

So, I did.  I enjoyed a nice lunch at Skyline Chili down the street and sent a complaint on the Taco Bell website as soon as I got home.

Good for you!  That person seems to be inconvenienced by even having a job! :P

I came home tonight to find a lovely package: the CD release of the 1958  City Opera revival of Marc Blitzstein's REGINA.  Has anyone else ordered this?

I haven't...but I've been thinking about it.  Is it good?  I don't know the show, but I like Blitzstein's music.
