I just spoke to Richard. I had called DR Ginny's number and got her voice mail, so I called him. She had a cat scan this morning that confirmed it was a heart attack, and she is currently in this cardiac catheter procedure (however the hell you spell it!) to look for blockage or problems. Richard is waiting for Rob to join him at the hospital. They will call as soon as the thing is over.
Please let Ginny know that the HHW Physical Rehab Support Group is at her service.
The Cardiac Cath takes a few hours - the procedure itself is not too long, but you must stay "prone and resting" until the mega-dose of blood thinners they gave you work themselves out of your system - also be mindful that if they discover blockage that can be remedied by stenting, they may well do that procedure at the same time (stenting is done by the same invasive cardiologist that does the cath, and the "system" is already in place. If she does get a by-pass or a valve job, cheer her up with the news that the procedure is not near as bad as one imagines and recovery moves apace at a noticeable rate. I was amazed that when I did my first post-op town walk-about I actusally felt better than I had for years.
