Really, don't we ALL have a Ken Berry story?  ;)

All I can say is if you came to this Bar Mitzvah party not knowing the Bar Mitzvah boy's mother was Production Manager on 'Cheers' (and a ton of other shows) and his father is a leading editor of film trailers, you would by the time you left.   Every jot and tittle (so to speak) was "produced", with a DJ and a candy theme running through the country club, and the video homage to the Bar Mitzvah boy was brilliantly edited (and even featured that famous voiceover guy--I can't remember his name, the one that does a lot of trailers these days).  Nothing like an L.A. Bar Mitzvah.  Oy.

Any celebrity sightings, JMK?  Besides you and Betsy, of course.

It is already 75 degrees here, as of 9:00 a.m.  We are going for a record today.  They are saying at least 95.

I'd like to hear some of these Ken Berry stories.  Do it, do it now - the time is nigh.

Ok, I'm more alive now.  I'm not feeling 100%, maybe a 90%, but when it's not 100%, the psych part is close to depression!  (if that makes sense).  Anyway, the family from PA arrives today, already an hour and a half late.  Are flights ever on time?

No, I don't. I do, however, have lots of other stories.

BK--regarding NYC hotels: I've had great luck with priceline.com.  I usually wait till a few days before going, but you can try in advance and if your bid is not accepted you can change the rating of the hotel or the location and make another bid.  If it's still not accepted you can bid again in 24 hours.   I've gotten hotels such as the New York Hilton, Millennium, Times Square Hilton for $150 or less (of course they add a fee and taxes to that ).  When I was there in May it was hard to get a good price, but my friend bid $180 and we ended up with the Holiday Inn on 57th Street, which was not bad at all.

Time for a Victor Herbert break! I've redone about half of my critical notes on the score to THE LADY OF THE SLIPPER and I think I will break for a bit, have some lunch, and return to them.

Well, I am slow roasting an eye of round.
I have potatoes on the stove being boiled so that I may mash them in a bit.
I have a zucchini casserole ready to be put in the oven for 45 minutes.
I have done my laundry.

It's not slow at my house.

I started watching Season 2 of MAD MEN.

I've seen 3 episodes thus far.

It's a little better than Season 1, but still slow.

Mad Men is sometimes infuriating - but the shows that concentrate within the agency are the better ones.  Why people think (as did a former dear reader) that this thing is the second coming is anyone's guess.

I agree.  The agency stuff is the most interesting.

When I type a post today, it takes me to the top of the current page instead of down to the post that I have just posted.  That is weird.
