Has anyone seen the restored version of Fritz Lang's Metropolis?

It's going to be playing in San Francisco when I'm there.

There is also an Amoeba Store in San Francisco that I'm looking forward to visit

My sister's boyfriend called me earlier, asking if I'd like to go to a Seattle Storm basketball playoff game tomorrow.  My niece (the true Storm fan) isn't able to go, so I said yes.  I'll get the ticket tonight and we'll meet up there.  He's going to do some shopping at a couple of places in between Tacoma and Seattle and I don't want to take off that much time from work. :)

I know!  Here are a couple of quotes from THIS article:

Quote
"The Discovery Channel produces many so-called 'Environmental Programs' supposedly there to save the planet," Lee said in an ad he took out in a Washington newspaper to promote the protest. "But the truth is things are getting WORSE! Their programs are causing more harm than good."

...

A lengthy posting that could be seen Wednesday on a website registered to Lee said Discovery and its affiliates should stop "encouraging the birth of any more parasitic human infants," a possible reference to shows like "Kate Plus 8" and "19 Kids and Counting." Instead, he said, the network should air "programs encouraging human sterilization and infertility."

Well, it's time for me to leave work and go to my sister's house to pick up the ticket for tomorrow's game.

Until later!

Time for me to get some sleep.  I celebrated surviving August with a few beers.  Now that they are wearing off, I definitely need sleep

Oh, the house that blew up....apparently one of the local heating and cooling companies had a service man there earlier. The service man apparently turned on a valve he shouldn't have and a little while later ker-blewie!!!!  All are ok, but I smell a law suit.

I called AT&T because my home phone bill for the last two months has been topping one hundred dollars and in this day and age I just can't believe that's possible with so many alternatives.  It turns out my "plan" is from 2004 and is completely antiquated by just about every standard.  When she got through bringing it up to date, I will now not be paying anything over fifty bucks and that includes unlimited out of state calls.  Quite a difference I'd say - and they're giving me a sixty dollar credit for this last bill, so from now on it will be much nicer.  She told me I should call at least once a year to check and see if my plan is the best for me.

And if you really want to get a better deal, just tell them that you're (thinking of) changing service providers... It's worth the time.  Trust me.

You know that its time to look for a new job when you look back at of those days of chemo & radiation fondly as the "good ol' days"

bk - The Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.serves... Wait for it... Shrimp!

*And, yes, it's a franchise derived from the movie "Forrest Gump". Don't forget to set aside some of your pennies for souvenirs in the "Gump Store"/Gift Shop.

Should be at bk's show instead.  :'(

Next month, I've promised myself to be there, no excuses.  (and no more 90 degree weather). 8)

Have to make a red velvet cake this weekend. Going for Mom's old-fashioned recipe with a coconut filling and seven-minute frosting on top.

No cream cheese filling and frosting?  Hmmm...

Although, I think I'd prefer seven-minute frosting to the buttercream that some of the bakeries here in NYC use for their Red Velvet cakes and cupcakes.

Me too, I have nothing interesting to say.

I listen to the news on NPR radio for 2 hrs a day in the car, but at home I just listen to music or watch a dvd.

This 3 day weekend, massive yard / garden work.  The last for the summer.

Cream cheese filling and frosting.  Yum.  I can eat that.  On any cake.  (but then I'm not really a cook either)  I only like to make soups and stews (hearty country home style).  Although now that my daughter has flown the coup and insists I live too far away to visit, I haven't really cooked all summer.  Just been eating a lot of locally grown fruits and the local small restaurants for food to go.
