I haven't heard from Mr. Bobrick as to whether today is happening.  Mr. Barry Pearl, who brought me into the project and was working on this, called last night to tell me he's gotten a job - on a boat - as one of a group of entertainers, and this job, which officially begins (sails) on my birthday this year keeps him on the boat for eight months!  He won't be back until September of 2011 or something like that.  It's decent money, apparently, and obviously eight months of steady work is a great thing - but he is a better man than I, Gunga Din.  I could not do it - could not be away for eight months, although that's what happens when you're in a national tour and I kind of always wanted to do that.  But being on a boat for eight months, even though the boat obviously stops in certain places, well, I could barely take the two WEEKS I was on the Sitmar cruise shooting The Partridge Family.  But good on Barry, and he was just offered it - didn't even have to audition.

Not sure if DR MBARNUM mentioned this, but Miss Gloria Winters who played Niece Penny on Sky King passed away August 14.

She also played the oldest daughter in the William Bendix program LIFE OF RILEY.

I was wrong....Gloria played Babs in the one season Emmy winning Jackie Gleason version of RILEY.....Lugene Sanders played Babs with Bendix.

Anyone with an interest in Bollywood/Hindi films and was intrigued by the story DRtd posted earlier, might check out this film, that was sent to me by DR MBARNUM.....the film and the soundtrack are most entertaining, endearing, and heartbreaking.

All 22 cartons have arrived in Oxford, OH and I am happy they are there. I had a lovely time with Mr Skip Kennon at Toyland, and we resume this endless number tomorrow.

I have been reading the funniest novel, FOOL, a bawdy yet strangely poignant retelling of KING LEAR told by the Fool. It's isn't heartbreaking like Jane Smiley's wonderful A THOUSAND ACRES, but I suspect, since it follows LEAR closely, that we are in for much sorrow behind the guffaws. I'm at the point where King Lear and his hundred knights have gone to sstay at Goneril's castle, Cordelia is married to the King of France, and the Fool and the disguised Kent have gone to Birnham Wood to ask the Weird Sisters named Parsley, Sage and Rosemary to restore Lear's sanity.

It's outrageously bawdy, DR JRand60. I think you'd love it. There are several important characters that Shakespeare omitted from the play: the Mother Abbess who raised the Fool from a child at the convent and who I suspect is either a man in drag or a major bull dyke helping young nuns with their evening prayers; Drool, the Fool's apprentice jester; Thalia, a nun buried alive, and others.

Shall we check the Richter scale for the impact?  I still want to know when they're unveiling the collection with a lavish reception!

Back from a sandwich and no fries.  It's cooler today thanks to clouds, but still quite hot.  I do think I'll be able to jog.  Haven't heard back from Sam, so I'm hoping that's been pushed to another day - I'd much rather stay home, do some work here, and just relax.

Here's something amusing:  While I was in Drama Book Shop waiting to begin the reading I was looking at some new books, including one by Mickey Rapkin about Stage Door Manor.  For those who've read my new book, you know that in 1969 I moved to NY and lived in Brooklyn in an apartment in the building in which my Aunt Minnie (my father's sister) and Uncle Rube lived.  And they also occur in the first Kritzer book, albeit under other names.  Uncle Rube and Aunt Minnie had a son named Leonard - we saw him several times when we were living there - a very nice chap (saw him a few times in LA, too).  Oh, and Uncle Rube's last name was Rapkin.  Oh, and Leonard had a son named Mickey.  Isn't that funny?

I watched a couple of the movies I bought.....

MOON with Sam Rockwell, didn't finish it.

COCO BEFORE CHANEL - I liked this movie a lot

HANGOVER - funny movie with some nice guys in it

I truly enjoy THE HANGOVER.  It's one of those movies that I thought I was going to hate, because I thought it was a *teen* comedy along the lines of AMERICAN PIE et al. . .BUT, I laughed many, many times while viewing THE HANGOVER.  The guys are great together and the story is quite humorous, too.

I loved "Moon" with Sam Rockwell!

RE: TAR

My favorite team is the father/daughter team.

I like the tattooed team, in that they seem nice, but I don't hold out much hope for them surviving this game for very long. LOL!

Well I do agree with you that I don't hold out much hope for the tattooed team.

But I am not a big fan of the father/daughter (in fact i had to think hard to know who you meant).  The girl (pageant girl) just seems so over the top sweet. I am sure they are nice. But I don't hold out much hope for them either.

I do think the father/son seem funny and hope we can see more of that.

I really don't hold out much hope for the bio mother/daughter. They don't know each other to work well together. And they don't seem very good at the challenges.
