Btw, I loved last night's "Modern Family".  -And it's also been great reading some of the very thoughtful discussions about public displays of affection (PDAs) it has raised on the internet.

We also thought it was a great episode.  I like that it has sparked some interesting internet conversations.  I can't help asking "gays don't do high-five" Huh?  That cracked me up.

BTW (by the way in internet speak) my doctor told me my blood sugars looked great (hurray...and rather suprising) but my cholesterol is way high (and he demanded to know why I stopped taking my cholesterol med...I had some lame excuse for him).

He also said that I am highly vitamin D deficient. Says that might be why I take two hour naps on my days off. I have to pick up some mega-dose prescription of vitamin D. We shall see what it does for me.

Make sure you buy D3.

Good news about your sugar, not the rest.

The new "Promises, Promises" came in at the library. I'm glad I didn't pay a cent for it.

I have to go make a derby pie now. Chocolate chips, pecans, butter, brown sugar and bourbon. All in one luscious pie. To be topped with whipped cream.

And now... I need to get ready for some sort of "secret" dinner being hosted by some sort of "secret society". ??? -It's a fund-raiser for an arts organization, and I'll be my friend's "plus one".  We've already received part one of the invitation. Part two will be be printed on a popsicle stick - after we've finished eating said popsicle. And the dress code for the party proper: a swimsuit and a towel. ???

Laters...

Never mind, found it:  Shawnee Smith.  I guess I remember her from "Becker," though that's odd because I never watched that show, LOL.

That's who she is!  I knew that she looked familiar and my memory was that she was a brunette and on a comedy with a dead-pan delivery.  I looked on-line last night and couldn't find anything on her.

Glad to be back home, and today I'm starting a job for the show THE VAMPIRE DIARIES! The guy who directed this is an old friend, I've known him since he was just a kid, so it's great to be working with him!

Congrats on the new gig, Edi!

Yes, indeed!

The laundry is finished. I need a nap.

Bruce, Keith says your interview was superb.  "You were engaging while appearing to be natural & effortless in the exchange."

He wants to know if you can set him up on a date with Tanya while I'm in Chicago ;D

He gives me one every time he visits!

On a more serious note, the body pulled from the Hudson yesterday has been identified as Tyler Clementi:

At least his family will know for sure.  My heart breaks for them.  They didn't even have a chance to help him.

I have an appointment to get my bangs trimmed.  It should only take about 15 minutes to get there, except with the construction work going on I need to allow an extra 20 minutes in case I get caught in the road block again.  I will take a book with me, the extremely heavy THE HISTORIAN.

Friday afternoon greetings!  The grantwriters had a fabulously successful conference today and I'm a tired board member.  Left the house at 7:30am and picked up the morning speaker at her hotel, which was on my way.  She did a fantastic job, as did the break-out speakers, and the grantmakers who comprised the funders' panel that closed the day.  The conference food was a cardiac diet minefield - wraps with lots of cheese & mayo, potato salad, macaroni salad, and individual bags of chips.  Fortunately there was fresh fruit still on the breakfast buffet, so I ate more of that at lunchtime.

My favorite quote of the day from Maryn Boess, our featured speaker:

"I never say never, except maybe sometimes."

DR MBarnum - please, please, please get that cholesterol under control!  And, by the way, I've been on a mega-dose of Vitamin D and it has helped my hip pain immensely.

I've finished writing and am watching last Sunday's Mad Men, which I forgot I missed.  I'm quite tired from writing but I got everything done and am just biding my time till dinner.

We received an email from our friend Ricky & he reminded us of a fun memory:

"Remember when we saw Tony Curtis driving off the 29th Century lot and we tried to catch up to him in his car (a Rolls)  40+ years ago."
