Would one of our DRs with a large classical music collection recommend a CD of Pachelbel's Canon? Mine is in storage and I see quite a few recordings to choose from. Larry? Jose? Anyone?

There are a couple of CDs out there that have multiple versions of Pachelbel's "Canon" played by various ensembles. I'm partial to the a cappella one on THIS DISC. ;)

Thanks, Jose. Actually, that was the one I was first drawn to because I love the cover art. That's the one I shall purchase.

You're welcome, DR Jeanne. -I actually prefer some of the more elaborate piano and orchestral transcriptions - and the Swingle Singers(!) - over the more "accurate" string trio/quartet versions.

*I have a friend who plays cello in a string quartet, and they almost always get asked to play the "Canon" at weddings. Alas, the cello part is the same sequence of eight notes played over and over and over and over and over again. ;)

The Pride Parade had more swag than any other parade I've ever been to, especially since an election is coming up. It's interesting to see which politicians jump on the gay bandwagon only for events like this when they think it will get them more votes. Swag-wise, lots of skittles (taste the rainbow!) beer koozies, leis (from GayOrbitz) condoms (!), rubber rainbow bracelets, luggage tags, rubber balls, and Macy's made special pride scarves for the occasion. I expected to have fun, but I didn't anticipate how genuinely moved and happy I felt to see so much support and inclusion from major corporations, churches, local businesses and straight-but-not-narrow folks, and to see all these out and proud people, including high school kids who seemed equally as moved to be out there on the front lines.

In the meantime, here in New York, Paladino, well... :-\  >:(  ???

Just as long as Monkey doesn't end up as another layer in some other cake-and-pie creation.

Well...

I don't have anything on my schedule tomorrow until the evening, however, I do have plenty of stuff to accomplish around the apartment.  And since my room currently resembles an explosion at a laundromat, I'm going to take a couple of minutes now to tidy up before going to bed.

Goodnight.

I just made some rhubarb sauce and am doing laundry

Hmmmm... Rhubarb!

When we lived in Connecticut, my Mom grew rhubarb in our backyard. -And a few months ago, I discovered the joys of early-season rhubarb - sweeter and less fibrous.  Perfect for all-rhubarb pies and tarts - no strawberries needed.

It grew somewhere that we lived when I was young, and I remember eating it raw right from the garden. When I was older I heard that you weren't supposed to do that; that it was dangerous. I never seemed to suffer any ill effects from it, so I wonder how true that is.

I just found out that JEWS AND BASEBALL will be at the Virginia Film Festival! I used to live in Charlottesville and go back to attend the festival sometimes, but this is the same weekend I'm taking my mom and her other half to NY for our theatrical opening. Dang it, wish we could do both!

Congrats!

And I LOVE the Virginia Film Festival! -Sorry you can't be in two places at once.

I contemplated stopping there on the way home, but NY is already going to be so expensive, and I don't think my mom would want to fly home on their own. But I want to go. I love the festival, especially when Roger Ebert used to do a 3 day analysis of a film, like THE THIRD MAN.

DR Jose, Greg and I tried Yeah, Burger! Shaun Doty's burger place, but I think we both like Flip better. And they're opening the second Flip in Buckhead next to where we get our hair cut. Yay!
