Shimmering and aliasing have happened on lots of transfers - even at 1080p it just seems to be a fact of life with certain patterns.

Shortly I shall be on my way to a book signing.  Send your most excellent vibes and xylophones, please, because two more people just cancelled - it really could be me and about three others and I will not be happy about it if that's what happens.

Thanks for all the vibes! The first half worked in that I got here safely. Now if I can overcome my fears tomorrow I can party down at opening night!

Vibes for BK's signing and vibes for Edisaurus' forum. Both will be great.

I was buying CDs four years before I had my own CD player.

I have more photos of Little Ricky.  I'll post them in a little while. I was in his room earlier and he's getting restless.  I came back down to a VERY jealous Boo.  She's sleeping on my lap right now. We've been watching the rescue.

I brought some reading home from work so I'm going to go give Ricky his meds and put the cream on his leg that he will lick off even though he shouldn't, then sit in there and read for awhile.  I was going to give him a bath tonight, but deicded to wait.  I think it looks better today than it did yesterday. Not leaps and bounds but a little better, so I'm going to proceed slowly and not freak him out totally by pouring water over him.  He's really a good boy.

Interesting bit on the origin of the Tea Party name in an interview Peter Filichia did with playwrite Ian Kelly:

IK: I’m writing a biography of Samuel Foote, the British one-legged comedy superstar of the 18th century. He’s not well-known over here. I came across his story while researching Casanova, who knew him. The irony is that Lee got interested in him without any input from me, and is now writing a play about him, too. We often run into each other in the book stacks in the London Public Library. We’ve discovered that Foote was arrested in 1776 for buggery and his trial became such a sensation that London paid too much attention to it and not enough to the American Declaration of Independence.

PF: You mean we somewhat owe this man for our independence -- and one of our best musicals?

IK: There’s more. At the Haymarket he would do political comedy shows and serve tea. They became known as tea parties – and the expression became so famous that that’s why that incident in Boston Harbor in 1773 became known as the Tea Party. All thanks to a man whom many considered a sexual deviant.

Good Evening!

Well... I'd have to say that Fall has most definitely moved in to NYC. Today was sunny, cool, and breezy.

I was watching TOP CHEF: JUST DESSERTS, the picture froze for about three-five minutes so I changed stations and now I have no picture at all. I can play DVDs and videos. Hmmm . . .

I would guess Time Warner crashed and burned but my computer service, which is Time Warner, is fine. I'll worry about it tomorrow. I have to be up at six for the McGlinnventory.

Started "OSS 117: Lost in Rio." Great opening, but I'm afraid I'm a little to tired to stick with it the rest this evening. It certainly is a lot cheerier than the other offering for the evening, "The Road."

It appears the Time-Warner had a city-wide outage. Mine went out too for about 25 minutes.

I tried the tv again about 15 minutes after it died and it was still out. I just now tried it and the service is back.

My doc (who I really like) ok'd my not taking any more pills after I called Kaiser today.   I was afraid of falling asleep on the freeway, it was just too hard to stay awake from 5AM to 6PM when I got home, and almost impossible any later if I wanted to do something.  Seems that any pill with a warning label MAY CAUSE DROWSINESS just really is not for me.   AA really cured me of wanting the feeling of not being in control.  Yea for AA.

How old is Little Ricky?

The vet said he's probably 10 months.  Sometimes he looks full grown and sometimes he looks like a kitten.  He's at an awkward age which can be pretty funny
