DR Dan (the Man) - I shouldn't have laughed, but I did. ;)

I hesitated on posting it, but I did.

So strange, only a few days after Joseph Stein passing.

I won't say what has just crossed my mind...

Opticals: Any footage that involves duping original footage, i.e. dissolves, fades, main titles, special effects.  Once you dupe original footage you are then generations away and introducing new grain on top of what was already there - depending on the competency of those doing the opticals and the stock used, they can look okay (at best), or really bad.

Needless to say, now that we are in the digital age, the problem with opticals has gone away.

Great! Now that I know what "DNR" and "opticals" are, I, too, can become an online DVD reviewer!

I have had this feeling that I really needed to get my Cat Sculpture and bring it home.  I don't know why it was suddenly bugging me.   I agreed to leave it outside at the exhibit through October and something just said "GO GET IT NOW".   Anyway, I was trying to find some help to move it and everyone is busy or injured, so I went out this noon to see how heavy it really is and discovered that the ground was dry enough to drive right up to it and by using a rug to prevent scratching, I could get it into the car myself.   So I did!

He is now outside as a protector and welcoming beacon to friends.  I am very pleased.  I don't know why it was bugging me.  I think the idea that it was in a meadow that gets very soggy when wet - and the fact that it's dry right now made me want to get it while I can.

I've had a busy afternoon tidying and putting things away. I have to leave for this opera recital around 5pm, and I hope it's no longer than 90 minutes or so.

Wednesday afternoon greetings!  So, I was up shortly after Rob left this morning - he was on this way to a hospital in Dayton for a clinical day in Labor & Delivery and I was due at our local hospital for my nutrition class and cardiac rehab.  Rob called a little after 8 to tell us that he'd rear-ended another car on I-75 near downtown Dayton.  Everyone was OK, but Rob was cited and fined (no court appearance - whew!) and his car had to be towed.  Richard retrieved Rob and got him to his destination and then caught up with the car and has spent the day working out the repair details.  He told me to proceed with my plans, which were to take some things out to my Mom when I left the hospital and take her on whatever errands she needed to do.  We picked up some wallpaper she'd ordered, went to lunch at Cracker Barrel (tricky on a cardiac diet...), and went to the garden center.  I just got home to find a message from Richard that he's on his way to pick up Rob and go to rent a car for his use, courtesy of the insurance company.  Definitely a "sandwich generation" day for Richard and me.

Oh, you could have become one BEFORE you knew, just like everyone else :)  You think any of these people knew what these things were before Robert Harris and the crazy people at the AVS forum came along?

Playing catch up. I worked 15 hours at the polls yesterday, from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. without a break. We had a huge turnout.

Good for you!

The major news services seem to be far behind on the Jerry Bock obit.

Nothing came up a few minutes ago when I read the first post, and it is there now after I read the second one.

Obviously your instincts were correct. :)

Back from a nice sound check - sound and light person is very aware of what I wasn't thrilled with last time around, so hopefully that will all be fixed for this evening.
