It's brown gazpacho, Cillaliz. I've never seen brown gazpacho before.

Craig & Yogi are in our shower after a bit of "high" drama.  Craig was shoveling the front path where his car had cast a shadow preventing the ice from melting.  Sherlock, Yogi & I were watching him.  Craig noticed Yogi was out of sight and became concerned when Yogi didn't respond to his calls.  I walked around back to find Yogi had jumped into the pond, shallow side, & fallen half way through.  He was sitting with a thin layer of ice around his chest too scared to move.  With prompting from Craig he pushed his way through a bit more of the thin ice and wouldn't go farther.  Craig had to go into the cold mucky water, easily breaking the ice ahead of him, and pull Yogi out.

This just turned into our most memorable Thanksgiving. ;D  What a dog!!!!

Glad you found him in time to save him!  Whew!

Instead of walking out of the pond he might have sat there until he froze to death.  ::)

We are back from a lovely Thanksgiving dinner with my mother at The Grand Finale in Cincinnati (Glendale, actually).  The food was fabulous and we all brought some home.  Mother really enjoys these outings and, yes DR Jane, I am very grateful to have her nearby.

Thanks Ginny.  They were never really in danger as the water was shallow.  It just wasn't a pleasant experience & what kind of dogs doesn't enjoy bouncing through ice. ;D  I admit I was scared when I first saw Yogi thinking he was stuck until I realized it was fear keeping him there.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Glad I saved it. Because my sister had promised my niece that she could watch it. But for some reason her station showed a Detroit parade instead. My niece was not pleased. But I said she could watch it here.

We got our flu shots today. Very well organized. Mostly only old people getting it. But if you have a baby under 2 years old then your whole family can get it for free. And they let me get it with my nieces.

What a fiasco though. The little one was good but running around. And Megan who is 5 had a breakdown and the lady had to hold her down screaming. She can go from either being perfectly calm to be hysterical. :(

I like American Idiot. I liked the Rockettes.

I thought those dancing and singing penguins were funny. And so were the dancers who made pizzas while they danced.

Reading about these family stories. Wow.

DR Vixmom I would call my sister-in-law and tell her to call your mom!

I wish I could partake in Black Friday. But I guess we have our own version, Boxing DAy!

Mom just called.  I told her it was hard to be alone on Thanksgiving, she said "so did you sit around and feel sorry for yourself all day?"
I love the sensitivity, lol.  She does make me laugh.  They still have lots of ice up there on the roads.  I would have liked to have been invited to my brother's or at least to have heard from either my brother or sister by phone or email, but it didn't happen.  Anyway, knowing the roads there are icy, I wouldn't have gone anyway.   That makes me feel better.

No problems with our Kindles, DR Cillaliz.  Richard has really taken to it and learned a lot of cool tricks.  I've just done basic reading and have liked it for that.

For MBarnum and other lovers of kitsch (I mean that in only the nicest way), I received an e-blast from VCI Entertainment that I think is keyed toward industry pro's, but you can take 60% off your entire order with the code HOLIDAY2010.  VCI has a lot of 1940s films that I think would interest MBarnum.

Woohoo! I let Cat Freddy know and he did some pretty decent birthday shopping for me, and at bargain prices! I believe that I am getting"

What a thoughtful kitty, Michael.

Mom said my sister-in-law's father was there.  He's living in assisted living in my home town right now.  My nephew lives in Viroqua...he kept talking about Adam living in Viagra.  I guess it was very funny

I'm having real mixed feelings today.  I'm fine that Mom and Dad couldn't get here and as I figured they are going to go to my brother's house for dinner - which they should.   I'm happy to be home, but wish I would have at least been invited to my brother's house.  Choosing to be alone is a little different from not having a choice.   I'm still going to focus on the positive and not let that ruin my day...but I do have my moments.   I am thankful for all of you here

DR Cillaliz - I'm dealing with similar feelings towards some extended family.  Richard and I are fine by ourselves and going out to dinner with my mother.  I totally accept Rob being with his fiance's family.  However, I can't help but wonder, if my outcome in August had not been so good, would Richard's brother or nieces have taken in a new widower?  Sometimes, family is not all it's cracked up to be and the families we create (like HHW) can mean as much as those into which we were born.

Those who've read my first three books know about my family - and yes, the families we create are sometimes the families that mean most, and I'm grateful we're all here.  Thus ends my side dish of treacle.

Earlier today mom kept feeding the cat, because it is Thanksgiving and all so she kept feeding her and she kept eating and eating.  Then the cat went into the den, jumped up on my dad, looked right at his face and barfed all over his shirt.   I guess he let out a shriek mom could hear from the other side of the house...LOL, that one really cracked me up

Ginny, which Kindle do you have?  I'm thinking about one, just not sure which one I'd like the best

Cilla, they just said on the news that tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time, Amazon.com will have the original Kindle on sale for $89.00 (while supplies last)
