Speaking of Christmas, the decorating has begun in our household.  Richard and I got the holly dishes out of the cupboard over the refrigerator and put the everyday dishes up there.  Now I'm running the holly dishes through the dishwasher before we start using them.  I'm trying to get everything up except the tree and the outside garlands before Rob gets back from Michigan a week from today.  He'll be here for a couple of weeks and will enjoy helping with those two elements.

I have decided not to send cards this year as the activity will only hurt my shoulder.  I'll have to let people know.  I will send typed, not hand signed, letters back to a few people I don't regularly keep in touch with.

In any case...

I woke up. Went to church with my parents. Went to lunch with my parents - some surprisingly good Chinese food. Then while my Dad watched football games and my Mom started working on her Christmas cards, I took a nap. -Yes, another nap. -However, I think I actually broke a fever finally. ???

bk - Rumors opened on Broadway on November 17, 1988 - after only 8(!!!) previews, and closed on February 24, 1990.  535 (543) performances in all. A good run.  -And it's had quite a good life "in the regions".

From "yesterday"...

DR FJL - Yes, the IDR of Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark was cancelled.  Well, at least not open to the public.

I just noticed a bunch of you clicked on that ebates link I posted--remember, if you spend $25 you get an automatic $5 bonus cash back.  One thing I keep forgetting--access eBay thru ebates and you get cash back if you win your auctions.

The former Chancellor of the Florida Public School system emailed me this morning about renting the old house.  His kids live in Portland.  About an hour later he emailed back saying it was too big.  This is what's wrong with public schools nowadays.  :)

GET WELL VIBES FOR DR JOSE!!!

Thank You, DR Jane.

I'm OK. And I guess I just needed the down time. But this has truly been one of the most unproductive and uneventful weeks I've ever had. I'm just glad I was functional enough to spend Thanksgiving with my family, as well to catch up with Steve while I've been here in Richmond.  I was planning on trekking back up to NYC tomorrow, but, right now, I think I may wait until Tuesday, even Wednesday.

However, it has been comforting(?) to find out that a couple of my friends in NYC have also come down with various maladies over the past week. ::)

-And two singer-friends who also came down with sinus crap last week have also "realized" that the only thing that seems to cure this strain is rest and sleep. The anti-biotics are sort of helping, but they're not curing.

And they had a fourth hold a few minutes before Intermission.

Frankly, I'm surprised they didn't make everyone check their cellphones and cameras like they (try to) do at The Tony's. ;D

I've almost finished the Kay Thompson bio; she becomes more of a selfish, egomaniacal, petty ass every chapter. I suspect I'll finish this tonight and need to pick up another book in Dayton for the plane.

DR elmore - There's an "Eloise" shop set up in the Shops at the Plaza Hotel - right next to the newish Plaza Food Hall by Todd English.  I saw the Kay Thompson bio displayed prominently on a table along with various "Eloise" books and plush dolls.  Alas, some of the little girls who picked up the bio, well... They could tell it was not a children's book either. ;)

I've been doing nothing today but watch TV...and now it's time to go to rehearsal.  I'm sure that we'll finish act 2, but I don't know what else.  I'm just the light board operator. :)

Be back later!

Speaking of things culinary, I have a preliminary interview tomorrow morning with www.StarChefs.com, a culinary site out of New York City. I  hope with what they are offering that I can stay in San Antonio (that is, if I should get the job).

Elmore areRandy & McBeth reluctant to employ a realtor because of the commission cost?  Or do they want to wait for the depressed real estate market to rebound so the property will be worth more?

They do not want to pay a commission, but the realtor I spoke to says they won't see anything remotely close to what they wanted for 5-6 years. I want a realtor for the simple reason that someone will then be promoting the sale of the property. The two blockheads are doing next to nothing. It's all been JoAnn's work so far.

With constant articles, at least I've seen them, the housing market will improve in 2011 your brother's might not want to believe the realtor, plus believing also demonstrates how wrong they were not to sell back when they should have.

No matter how right you are, and have been all along, it seems you are fighting a losing battle.  They obviously don't need the money as much as you do and have no wish to buy you out.  If they do agree to buy you out I expect it will be for a lot less than you might get if you wait until the property sells.

From what you are saying I fear next you will lose the close relationship you have with Randy and the property will still be unsold.  Does Randy understand how important the sale of this is to you financially & the reason you continue to talk to the realtor against his wishes?  Without apologizing maybe he will accept your reasons if he understand your motivation and not be angry at you anymore.

i agree with DR Jane. But I still don't get why your brothers don't want a realtor. Don't they realize that most people use one. And if they don't want to use one then they need to actively try to sell.  Why are they worried about the commission when they've seen nothing for years.

Did I not call them blockheads?

This has nothing to do with the housing market anyway; the house and garage are torn down and the zoning is changed. This property will end up as a clinic, a motel, a fast food joint, a suite of offices or shops, or God forbid, a used car lot.

That's cool! I like Star Chefs. -And know some of the "star chefs" who have been featured on there.  They also cool mini-conferences every now and then.
