Waiting on a FEDEX Package that has been in Indianapolis since yesterday morning......still "in transit".......

I think you should go on to bed. I don't think it will come tonight.

Darn it!

I don't see the post I made earlier from dinner, but apparently it IS Time Warner and something to do with various ISPs - it's not ever site, just some, and our host sent me a link to the Time Warner twitter feed where they admit to the problem and say they're working on it.

Dinner with the film music fan and his wife was really fun.  We were joined by a lady film composer and her jazz drummer husband - they were all terrific.

The winter weather warning doesn't start until midnight tomorrow night, so my travel plans should work out perfectly.

Good Evening!

I'm back from Seeing "Donnie & Marie - Christmas On Broadway".

It was a true "Entertainment". A little bit country. A little bit rock and roll. With some R&B, salsa, Broadway, pop and blues thrown in for good measure.

I truly don't know how to describe it. It's basically a mash-up of their Vegas act with a couple of Christmas songs thrown in. I was truly impressed by some of the material that was literally put in this week: some film segments, some jokes and even a few songs from what I understand.

They opened the show together. Then Marie did a 25-minutes set - concluding with some "opera"! Then Donny did his set. Then they came back together for the final segments which included a dance-off as well as a video montage of some of the people they've worked with over the past 48(!) years in show business.

It was loud. it was touching. It was tacky. It was nostalgic. It was strangely both over- and under-produced at times. I was never bored. And I loved it!

bk - Yes, Time Warner has been having issues tonight in your part of the country. I believe it's related to the drop-out of service from a few weeks ago.

Jose, I really do think you should get an autograph for Vixmom.

I think you should get an autograph fro Laura

I actually tried to get one for DR Laura after the show.  My friend, Rob, took me and DR Rodzinski (who happened to be there tonight too) backstage to chat for a bit.  Donny and Marie were still in their dressing rooms when we left.  It was Donny's birthday tonight, and I believe they were heading directly to the party. -They didn't even make an appearance at the stage door.  However, they're in town for a few more weeks, so... We shall see.

Did anyone in NY see this? http://www.youtube.com/user/TheFolateflashmob

Not too long after the singing begins the camera catches a blond woman wearing a black coat, with a big smile, looking at the camera and then back at the singers.  That is my niece. :)

Is this your niece?  I wonder who that very attractive man next to her is ;) :

Yes to the first question. I have no idea on the second one.

I call him "Reservoir Man #2".

can I be his friend too?

 ;D

I'll ask him tomorrow. :)

Miracle of miracles, I was sitting at lunch with Paul today and my phone rang...it was my brother telling me that my nephew and his family were going to be at their house for their family Christmas this weekend and he invited me to come up and see them.  I almost fell off my chair.   Of course he also said they are coming today and will be leaving Saturday.

I had 1 meeting, two appointments and a funeral to go to on Friday, but I didn't want to wait until Saturday because there is a winter storm warning for the county they live in for Friday night, so I rescheduled Friday (and will miss the funeral - not a close friend) and am leaving first thing in the morning.  I'll spend the day there and get home before dark when the storm is supposed to hit.  I do have the cat sitter on stand by

:)

Drive safely tomorrow.

Ugh... I just got sick to my stomach reading a report that the Westboro Baptist Church will be picketing at Elizabeth Edwards' funeral...

Why on earth are they picketing her funeral....

She must have had some brilliant thought that vibrated the braces on their tiny brains.

This is why they are picketing her funeral:

***WARNING!!! This is the statement that they released. It is truly sickening, maddening and outrageous. You may want to skip it. I'm going to "downsize" it, so if you really want to read it, well... You know what to do.

Quote
“The message of Elizabeth Edwards is an affront to God-fearing Christians and an aberration to her maker. This diseased and demonic modern-day Lilith advocates universal health care and women’s rights. This is dangerous rhetoric. First of all, medical science defies the intent of God, just as much as gay, drug-fueled sodomy does. Ask Ted Haggard. And if God strikes you ill with something like cancer, it’s because He wants you off His earth. Why? If you’re Elizabeth Edwards, maybe it’s because you refused to clean the house or satisfy your husband. Of course, if you’re saved, as only members of the Westboro Baptist Church are, it’s to bring you back into the heavenly flock. Either way, prolonging the inevitable through ‘healthy living’ is just giving the Lord the middle finger, right in His holy pooper. And then there’s all this women’s liberation claptrap. Had Eve not eaten the apple, had she displayed an ounce of integrity or smarts enough to know her place under man, the human race would not be condemned as it is now. But no, she pestered and prodded poor Adam into sin. I guess my point is that God hates nags.”

TCB - I'm guessing that $65-million includes a lot of "false starts" along the way.  To me, except for the costs of the flying and the projections, I don't get why it costs much more than SHREK or MARY POPPINS.

I believe that most of the $65 Million was spent before the show went into rehearsals, and even before the costumes and sets started to get built.  And since the show has been in development for a number of years, well... I'm wondering how much of the weekly running cost of $1 Million is going toward their insurance rider.

...And if Elton John and Bernie Taupin could demand a half-million each week "off the top", I'm pretty sure that Bono and the Edge could too.

I thought I said it in a post above.  Except for knowing Jrand who knows Luther Creek, we know no one involved.

I don;t think the show was ready for the critics as of a week ago, but as someone who thinks it's OK for Taymor and Berger to mess with the comic book story, I hate to see it not gte a fair shake - and I don't think it should be held to a higher standard than other shows in terms of mishaps and such.

That said, I am glad I was sitting both times where no one could possibly land on me. :)   I hated being almost under the car at CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, for example.

And...

Since it has been in development for so long, why isn't the book in much better shape? Why were so many of the flying stunts still being developed and worked on? -Remember, the show was supposed to open in February.

Then again, a lot of shows that had been in development for years(!) weren't ready once they started previews on Broadway.
