Just heard the sad news that Steve Landesberg has died.  Cancer.  I knew him quite well in the 1970s as he was dating Diana Canova for many years.

I saw him and had a nice chat with him at Jerry's a few weeks ago.

Bruce a few weeks ago isn't very long for someone so near the end.  How was he & did you have any idea he was so ill?

Martin adamantly denies a ghostwriter in the preface - and there is no indication of one on the copyright page or anyplace else.

Yes, he got religion, and there are NO romantic stories included in the book - about June Allyson or anyone else.

Steve Landesberg was very funny.  Another distressing loss.

June Allyson was carrying on with Richard Rodgers.

Martin wrote the book several years ago. I think the Library of Congress was involved in the publication.

Jane, I had no idea was ill - I saw him quite often at Jerry's - the last time probably three weeks to a month ago, although maybe it was a little longer than that, but not much.  He came up to me and we had a nice chat - didn't seem ill at all, actually.

That is sad about Steve Landesberg. He was much younger then I would have thought. Only 65 years old.

For those who subscribe to NETFLIX, they have added a ton of movies that you can now stream....movies that are not available on DVD!

I have had a heyday adding movies to my list...tons of 1950s B movies I never thought would see the light of day!!!

I will only be able to watch them on my computer, but those who have a Wii or a Tivo box can watch them on there television...Comcast does not allow this with their DVRs  >:(

Just got home,  took the 101 freeway after a trip to the Fashion Square mall for my favorite vanilla and almond flavoring.  Only place I know to go is Williams Sonoma.

The mall was full of shoppers and every parking space was full.

I believe Nielsen-Massey - if that's the brand you like - is also carried at Sur La Table. I also like their Chocolate Extract; it adds a nice depth of flavor to cakes.

HUGH MARTIN - THE BOY NEXT DOOR an autobiography by....Hugh Martin....is a most enjoyable book.

He talks personally but not TOO personally about himself.....which is a disappointment of a kind, but he also tells lots of stories about his time on Broadway and in Hollywood, at some of the most exciting times to be in both of those places.  He talks about his dealings with those who brought him along and those who stood in his way.....

It's a nice book - and makes me want to read the book DR ELMORE was talking about, the biography of Kay Thompson.

I will have to look for that. Martin's score for "Make a Wish" is one of my all-time favorites. I recently found out it was one of Sondheim's too. He apparently wore out a copy of the album and bought a second.

Lots of hysteria occurring on the various theater chat boards about the accident.  No one really knows what happened other than one of the Spiderman flying doubles' cable snapped and he fell.  We get "a few feet" to "thirty feet" - again, no official word has been released - it could be serious and it could be not as serious, but something bad clearly happened and it isn't the first time with this show.

A friend just posted on Facebook how much she loved "Spiderman." Guess she wasn't there tonight. That's horrible news, regardless of the extent of the fall.

Sad news about Steve Landesberg. I was a big "Barney Miller" fan. Always enjoyed his dry sense of humor.

Seems strange that Abe Vigoda would outlive him.
