I've been out in the snow, which is quite deep. It's very quiet and people on the streets seem to be in a good mood. Tnere's very little traffic and it's kinda fun to stand in the middle of a Broadway lane of traffic and look down the street, as far as 77th Street or so. On my way out I ran into my neighbor Steve, who directs for ALL MY CHILDREN. He was off to work on sound for a film he shot this summer.

The sidewalk from 200 West 82 to the laundromat (216 West 82, I believe) was nicely cleared off. That's about three quarters of the block. I got to Broadway and stumbled into Laytners to look at their Christmas sale items, then crossed Broadway to the bank, which is closed. I deposited the checks via the ATM and wandered over to the bodega on Amsterdam and 82nd.

The wind is fierce and flurries of snow still blow around, making it feel chillier than it is. The drifts are enormous and the streets are crossable in small footpaths. I only fell once, at 82nd and Broadway as I was treading the footpath leaving the bank. My hands got a lot of snow but there was no damage.

I have no idea if we have mail delivery today or not.

I now have a pianist for CAMELOT, which doesn't come with a piano/vocal score, only a Piano Conductor's score....whew.  I bought a used piano/vocal for $25 - so now I can write in it all I want to.

Methinks there will be no mail today (in New York that is). I have not been out today. We will wait until tomorrow to trek to the store for some staples (food, not stapler staples).

I think I have my new lease waiting for me at the post office. While we were on Long Island a notice was delivered for a certified letter. Since my lease is up in June I think it's probably my landlord sending me the new one for my approval.

I love THE BRIDES OF DRACULA! I really like VAMPIRE CIRCUS: unflinching pedophilia, nudity, child murder, bestiality, revenge, gypsies, and circuses. It's like watching the original 1903 BABES IN TOYLAND. All that's missing are the demon-possessed dolls.

Wow--that was pretty neat!  I don't know what I would have thought if I saw people "froze" like that.

Sorry, been there.  Tried that.  Not to mention they take over 65% of anything they collect.   I still tried it with a company that wouldn't charge unless they collected.  They tried for over 6 months but he wouldn't even answer the phone or the letters they sent so I canceled the contract with them.

Oh, come on, it was on Frances Farmer Presents.  Unfortunately, she introduced it as The Littlest Rebel.  ;)

One more mittel-European gorefest! I think you will enjoy it, DR JRand60.

When the vampires drag the heroine away with her duenna Gerta Hauser, you will see the
Tony-winning Elizabeth Seal of IRMA LA DOUCE as Gerta.

Honestly I think I have done everything that can be done from a legal standpoint.  I just have realize that it's over, that money is gone and move on.

The only glimmer of hope at this point is the Recovery Fund but they are out of money and 3 years behind in paying claims.  It might take a good 4-8 years (yes that is what I was told) before my name comes up to the top of the heap and by then I will have either sunk or still be swimming, abet barely (if I keep my current job).  They haven't even got to my paperwork yet to approve it and they are running about year behind.

When it gets to that point, I have to go through the whole process of proving my case all over again even though the Final Order I just received is from the same government agency.  It will help that I have that Final Order and a Civil Judgement so I don't know what else they could want but who knows?  Then and only then my name will be in the heap to be paid and if they are still short on funds, it could take a year or two before they are able to pay me anything.

Who said something about a lotto ticket?  Maybe I need to buy one.  It might get me some cash quicker. :)

DR Danise, when I sued my landlord in 1985 for a rent reduction, it took me twelve years to settle, 6 years for the board to settle in my favor and 6 years for the landlord to appeal it, lose, and pay me $14,000.  I'd let the agency hang onto it for as long as it takes. As long as it's costing you nothing, you might be surprised to win some money in the future.

Thank you, Dr George.

I guess I could do that, DR Elmore but here's the thing.  If I have to wait a couple years and the Recovery Fund might come though, I would rather wait for them.  I would receive a much bigger amount of the money I'm owed from them then I would get with a collection agent.

The Recovery Fund would deduct any money I receive (including the 65% the collect agent got) from what ever money I am awarded.  Why give 65% away unless I have to?  I don't think Turner was going do anything with the collection agent anyway.  They even told me that if someone doesn't make some kind of  payment arrangement in the first 3 months it is highly unlikely they ever will.

How many of you have/planning to get one of those new 3-D TV's?  I think it will be quite some time before I'll bother with one--even if I did have the money.  I don't think there is enough content out there to justify getting one.  I don't like the idea of having to wear the glasses either.

Toby the Terrible would more then likely have them either torn up or out in the back yard.

While I do want to get a HD TV in the coming year, it definitely will not be a 3D model.  I still think the whole 3D thing is a fad that will pass.

In other news, our tenants (actually just the wife) is bitching because they incurred a $30 charge for not removing yard debris that had been there for 5 months, even after I told them if they didn't take care of it, they would incur a $30 charge.  Oy.  I also can't abide being a landlord.

But think of the fun you will have knocking on her door on a cold winter night and saying to her (whilst twisting on the end of your waxed moustache) "You MUST pay the $30 yard debris charge!"
