I read at night after he turns out the lights. He doesn't mind the light on the Nook & prefers it to my flashlight. After two nights I'm getting the hang of it. This morning it was still dark out when I began reading & I should have gone back to sleep. I found the back light too bright first thing in the morning. I need to see if a gray background will help. With the book cover it is easier to hold than a regular book. My biggest complaint it getting the knack of turning the pages without sending me somewhere I don't want to go. Yesterday morning I went to a completely different book & didn't have a clue how to get back to my book. Now I know.I also have to read two books at once so I have something to read while Keith is reading his Nook. You should go to the store and try out the regular Nook. visually it's like reading a book. You couldn't read in the dark, but it isn't bright like looking at a computer screen. I think it's easier on my eyesTrue but the reason for me to use this is to read in the dark instead of using a flashlight which hurts my neck & bothers Keith, plus I'm constantly changing batteries. There are Nook covers with lights

I've lost 10 pounds since Christmas. I'm very pleased
I'm enjoying The Lacuna. By the time I got to bed this past week I only read a couple pages at a time, so I have a long way to go, but it's interesting

It is different with an e-book.
This little light of mine...I'm gonna let it shine..... (I don't have to worry about waking anyone )
