When my mom and I went to Los Angeles in 1966, we caught a glimpse of Charles Buddy Rogers, in person, possibly at Movieland Wax Museum.  I didn't know the name at the time, but it was one of the rare times I ever saw my mom "starstruck".  I thought she might swoon.

1966, eh?  A good choice of year - I'm sure you'll enjoy the new Hofstetter book :)

I was born in 1966. ::)

I've done nine pages and will now get ready for supper and show at Vitello's.  Since it's early, I'll be home by nine and will write one or two more pages then.  And then it's on to the last four chapters.

I thought Mae-Ling gave me a great line when she came over to ask me to pick up a dead bird in her yard. I asked where her dad was, and her answer was, "Oh, he doesn't know how to pick up dead birds." Then she spoke again.

How terribly scary!!!  I am extremely happy you avoided the truck & blade!!!  Were you able to get a report him?

Screaming in the car is good. :)

No.  I'm not going to report it.  No one got hurt and there was no accident.  It would be his word against mine, but after I avoided him and came to a stop, I turned and watched his light turn green.  So I know he ran the light.  He did go around the block and met me just down the street.  I think he was coming back to make sure everything was ok.   I appreciated that.

I meant did you report the driver at the time since you said he sped through another intersection after leaving you.  Then the police could have kept an eye out for him if he continued driving recklessly.

If he was checking on you that was nice. :)

I know what you meant.  My mom asked me the same thing.  At the time all I thought was  "Thank you God"  seriously, I did not see how I was going to avoid that accident.  He must have really stomped the accelerator as I slammed on the brakes because it worked out

So glad you're OK, Cilla,

And nice that it seems the driver came back to check on you.

That gives me faith that some people are decent, that he wouldn't have left you there had something happened.

Thanks FJL

LOL, she gets these meds three times a day.  She isn't really fond of them, but lets me give them her without complaint.....after I catch her, that is

I am still full from dinner.  I made salmon, home made mashed potatoes with sour cream and chives and steamed peas.  There are lots of left overs so I'm set for the next couple days.

Until you explained I was confused why he had gone around the block & driven behind you.   It was very thoughtful of him.

I watched THE SOCIAL NETWORK on DVD last night.  I'd seen it in a theater when it was first released.

It's an excellent film, one that I will certainly watch again in the future.

But, Like RAGING BULL and even CITIZEN KANE, it's a film that I admire, rather than "love".

I "love" CASABLANCA.  I "love" THE MALTESE FALCON.  I "love" THE GODFATHER.

The difference is that I "care" about the characters in the movies that I love.  I'm fascinated by the characters in THE SOCIAL NETWORK and the other films, but I don't really like them.

Despite all its great critical awards, I'll be surprised if THE SOCIAL NETWORK wins the Best Picture Oscar.  The Academy doesn't usually give that award to movies they don't "love".

What do you think?

I believe the Best Picture Oscar will go to THE KING'S SPEECH.

I agree, I do like Social Network but it does not have the nuances and tangled stories and drama that The King's Speech has. That was an excellent film

Sure, rub it in that we don't have either of those store anywhere near us. ;)

The closest TJ's is just over two hours away in California.

The closest WF's is about four hours away in Bend, Oregon.  Often when we are in Portland we go to Whole Foods or when in L.A.

I am jealous the  closest TJ to me is in the Twin Cities and Rochester, MN

Wow!  I'm so very glad your alright, DR Cillaliz!  What a close call.

Your talking about cursing in car made me think about how when I was a little girl who didn't drive, my Dad would swear up a storm sometimes while driving.  I always asked him, "Why do you do that Daddy?"  He would grumble but never really gave me an answer.

Then I started driving and the first time someone cut me off and almost caused me to have an accident the first words out of my mouth were-&#@$!!  My Dad was with me and he just started laughing and said, "Remember when you asked me why I said those things?  Now you know why!"
