Got a phone call from an old friend tonight out of the blue. I haven't seen Louise in several years now, and it was a great surprise to hear from her. Hope this is the start of wonderful things for the week, though that will be hard to top.

I may have to call someone up I haven't spoken with in ages and do likewise.

Watched Social Network tonight.  It's a good movie.  Don't think it was my favorite this year, though

And that's about all I have to say about that.

I have now seen all the Best Picture Nominations.   I ususally do really bad in my Oscar pools when I've seen all the movies.  I do better when I pick them based on buzz and random choices

Actually I have to think about it.  I'm in a bit of movie overload.

I think there are several obvious choices.  I can't imagine anyone other than Natalie Portman winning for best actress.

And once I got back, I had to run a few errands, and then I got a call from a friend who was wondering if I was interested in grabbing a late dinner somewhere, and since I was, I did. Well, we did.

As for last night's Liver and Onions discussion...

My mom and dad would occasionally make Liver and Onions for dinner while we were growing up. And there's actually an "official" Filipino version of liver and onions - I think it's just the addition of garlic and some vinegar. However, I can't remember the last time I had calf's liver and onions.  Hmm... Chicken livers, however, are a different story.

The 13 Coins Restaurant in Seattle has a wonderful sauté of chicken livers, mushrooms and onions.

And for my late-ish dinner, I happened to have a pasta dish that consisted of Cavatelli with Chicken Livers, Bacon and Caramelized Onions.  YUM!

-Oh, and some Milk Chocolate Ice Cream and Green Apple Sorbet. YUM too!
