It occurs to me that I haven't been inside a McDonald's in over two years, ever since the bad business with the filet o' fish.

And as a Thank You for some of the publicity - a.k.a. Tweets - I've been sharing about The City Bakery Hot Chocolate Festival, the owner surprised me with a gift card today. :)

And...

After I was done running my errands, I decided to check to see how long the rush ticket line was for tonight's performance of Nixon in China at The Met.  To my surprise, there were only about 20 people in line at 2:00pm... And since I happened to have a book in my bag... Well...

Earlier tonight, I saw Nixon in China at The Metropolitan Opera.

I had seen the original production back in 1987 at The Kennedy Center, and had watched the PBS broadcast a number of times. Tonight it was like I remembered everything and nothing at the same time. John Adams was on the podium, and the clarity and drive he brought to the score - his own score - was amazing.  James Maddalena has only gotten better as Nixon, and the rest of the cast was quite good too. -Now I'm wondering if I still have my VHS of the PBS broadcast somewhere in one of my storage boxes.

And since a friend of mine invited me to tomorrow's/today's dress rehearsal of the New York Philharmonic... Which starts in seven hours from now...

Goodnight.

Thanks everyone for the vibes yesterday! I got home from tech rehearsal just in time to change and go back with my mom and Naz, Greg and my best pal, Jan.

I think Jose would have had a great time with all of the foods prepared by the top Atlanta chefs...Kevin Rathbun et al. Not only did they have wine pairings but also special cocktails. My favorite: Mint Jew-lips!

There was a crowd of over 3,000 to see the film and I sat by Shawn Green, one of the stars of our film (a gorgeous hunk, if you like that sort of thing...) and a super nice guy. There were 75 friends and family that I counted, and maybe more I didn't know about, and 2 dozen of them joined us for beers afterwards. It was great to watch the film with the folks who worked on it, especially my editing teammate. We're both cranking out stuff for Chik-Fil-A right now, so I will probably be rather E&T until the 18th, when they're due. I feel like such a whore, but I need the $$!

DR Jose will be glad to know that my piano is getting tuned tomorrow. I'm trying a new guy; he's the nephew of the guy who used to tune it for me back in the 70's. He loves the Knight piano and is psyched about working on it.
