Speaking of McDonald's. I love Big Macs!  But I only go a couple times a year.

Thursday morning greetings!  I'm off to Dayton again today for a grantwriters' event - a webinar in which the speaker is a recent retiree from DR Ben's workplace.

Re: the library having to have as many copies as book club members.

I find that rule crazy!

You'd think at least one member might order the book or buy it second hand. And really couldn't people share a library copy?  The only books most libraries would have that many copies of would be huge blockbusters.  But in many cases those books have long waiting lists!
Too many of the people in the book club didn't pick up the book until the weekend before the meeting.

BK's own Linda Purl was utterly charming on The Joey Reynolds Show, a late-night show which is on an NBC cable affiliate

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPJ9GR25AAo

The entrance is a little awkward with the door and all, wish they'd edited that out, but the interview is sooooo charming

(Many thanks to Jim Burns for letting m know the clip was on YouTube.)

I've had four requests for the BBC broadcast of ONE TOUCH OF VENUS: BK, JohnG, George, and Ben. Did I miss anyone?

That is all I have to report this morning.

TOD:

I think that the two most unusual LPs I ever bought would be:

Robert Gorl: NIGHT FULL OF TENSION. Gorl had a semi hit song that played on MTV a lot back in the 1980s. I liked it, so I bought the album. He is German (I think) and the songs are all sort of odd...but I liked them. Or maybe I just thought he was cute.  8)

the other unusual album was THE COCONUTS. How could I resist an LP cover like this!

Of course The Coconuts were part of Kid Creole and the Coconuts, but they evidently decided to do an album of their own. Don't know how well it did, but it is fun.

I still own both albums, and in fact have the Robert Gorl one on CD now.

DR George:  Did you ask them to use "dangy" (aka "dengue") in a sentence?

Here is the music video that made me a fan of Robert Gorl. Perhaps it might bring back memories to some...

Sandra was scared to death that she might be called up in Spelling Bee. They probably would have had a hard time getting her to miss a word, though.

She didn't even have to wear a "Cone of Shame," since she would be having 24 hour supervision.

I've been taking her outside almost every half hour, she's almost always sitting by the door waiting for the leash.

This morning, I took her for a long, long walk - following a car ride - in hopes that she will settle a bit while I'm doing my laundry.

She slept with me, on my bed, last night, cuddled up against my chest, with one ear over my heart.

And yet, her "Talk Memphis to Me" album is an outstanding cd.

Yes. She's too vocally untrained for her CDs to be consistent. I like a few, dislike others.

Last night, I went to a wonderful production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and I was one of the people called up from the audience!  Actually, the director (whom I've known since 1989...and she was about 15 years old) asked if it was okay if they called me up, so I said yes.  I was the first audience member to be called on to spell and I got the spelling wrong!  The word sounded like "dangy," but it's spelled "dengue."  I've never heard of it, so I was out.

Tsk, tsk, tsk....

DR George - Don't you remember that word from the Tony Awards broadcast?!?!?

Tsk, tsk, tsk...

;D

Evidently not. ::)

Yes, but since it's all about being funny, it didn't help.

I'm up after a really rough night of allergy problems - I haven't had a night like that in years.  I took another allergy pill at three in the morning and that helped pretty quickly but it was all in my throat by that time and I have to be careful to not push my voice today.  I also have to go get more pills, too.

Thanks for the vibes, but i'm not really sick. Just had this perpetual sinus problem for 2 weeks now.  Advil cold and sinus helps. But i doubt you're supposed to take it every day! I've been taking it once a day most days and it seems to help.

My niece got sent home from daycare yesterday with a fever. And my other niece was sick sat-mon. And my sis doesn't feel well. It's all around me. Lots of germs!
