Thank you DR's Ginny and Laura.  I will drive slow and it is basicly a straight shot with just 3 turns to get there. The 3rd turn is into their parking lot.  I should be ok.

I think it looks a lot worse then it is but I just want to make sure.  I'm just not sure that if he says I can wear the contracts if I'll go to work tomorrow or not.  I'm not a very vain person (at least I hope I'm not) but I really don't want people at the county center seeing me and thinking I got punched or something.

You would be amazed as to how many people you see that you "know" but don't even know their names if you know what I mean.

TOD:

Gosh, lots of great Jimmy Webb songs. Top favorites would be:

Up, Up and Away as sung by The 5th Dimension
Witchita Lineman as sung by Glen Campbell
By the Time I Get To Phoenix as sung by Glen Campbell
The Worst that Can Happen as sung by The Brooklyn Bridge
Galveston as sung by Glen Campbell

Kerry, "Ceremony" is a book about a man who returns home from war with a lot of emotional baggage from what he has experienced. He's half-American Indian, half-white, and as the Cher song told us, he's accepted really by neither including some of his own family. It's got some major cliche problems and too much of it is self-consciously writerly. The words are pretty and they make sense, but the pretty words don't add much to the feel or to the story.

It's the latest book I have to read for class. It's not as bad as the other books I've had to read so far, but it's not great, either.

Topic of the Day:  Except for "MacArthur Park" (as mentioned here), I don't know of Jimmy Webb. ::)

It's snowing and it's been sticking!  I'm at work, but a lot of people aren't.  I don't know how the snow will affect rehearsal tonight.  It sure is pretty, though! :D

Thursday morning greetings!  Today I must grocery shop for my family and get ready to host my book group tonight.  We're discussing The Secret Confessions of Anne Shakespeare by Arliss Ryan, with whom I went to high school and college.  She's agreed to join us by speaker phone, so it should be a fun evening.

My group has done the speaker phone with the author discussion.  It is fun.

Have any of you read a novel called "Ceremony" by Leslie Marmon Silko?

No.  After looking it up I know why you asked. :)  Do you recommend the book?

We are going to take Sherlock for a nice walk in the snow.  After we return Keith & Craig will go clean our long, long driveway & part of the road.

Sherlock is trilled to finally see snow again.

I love Jimmy Webb - the entire Richard Harris album A Tramp Shining is brilliant, as is its followup - The Yard Went On Forever.

Yeah, that, too. It's not as good as Kingsolver. But it's shorter. Only 265 pages. I'm about halfway through. That's what matters.

I had to go to the doctor's this morning to take a blood test again. It seems that the last blood I took, to determine that I have been immunized against mumps, measles and rubella, was screwed up in the lab. They only tested for mumps. And I need this for my online school. Apparently they've confused computer viruses with real ones.

Whatever the reason, the school is not going to let me enroll for summer semester if I don't have these results. What an irritation.
