15 minutes?  It sounds like Maestro Bernstein didn't want to come out of the closet.

Tonight is Jean Harlow night on TCM.....I think I will skip GLEE in order to watch these films.  I don't think I have seen the ones they are showing....RED HEADED WOMAN in particular.

Well...this is an interesting turn of events.

Julie Taymor May Get Kicked Off Spider-Man.

:o

The New York Times article that's linked in the Vulture article, has more information.

Perhaps Herbert Ross will rise from the grave to take over.

Elmore - I always mean to ask you this -- how do you know that the scores are wrong?

If you never heard the original how do you know what it is supposed to sound like?

The same way he knows when the Bible is wrong -- He was there!

I didn't even know we had a day

I certainly haven't heard about any of these "bridge" events

Have I been living in a cave?  Is this common knowledge?

I knew there was a day, didn't know when and had no idea about the bridges.   It's cold and snowing and when it's slick out a bridge is the worst place to be.

But if you meet a guy on a bridge your connection, or whatever it was, will be stronger. ;)

Yeah, right.

I went to work and went to my 10:00 hearing, which was really a 9:00 hearing and thanks to Ricky waking me up early, I got to work early and made it to the hearing, lol.   My client, however, didn't feel the need to go.

That doesn't sound good for your client.

I'm glad you are feeling better.

Not surprising for this guy.

I've been watching some Antenna TV since I've been without cable.  It was fun to see Hazel after so'many years.

In the mail today one box of camp fire mints. :)

Also something I ordered that I've been tracking at Fed Ex and is expected to arrive tomorrow.  Obviously I'm confused as to why the post office delivered it today.

As for the Topic of the Day...
-Trouble in Tahiti - The whole "There is a garden..." sequence destroys me every time. -And then I get picked up again by "What a movie!".

I had never heard of TROUBLE IN TAHITI, until last weekend when i read that Tacoma Opera is doing it along with PAGLIACCI opening this weekend.

I love "Trouble In Tahiti."  I just ordered THIS version that I never knew about, featuring baritone Rodney Gilfry and soprano Kim Criswell, our very own Elmore's close and personal friend!  I Love Kim Criswell!! ;D This recording also includes Bernstein's "Symphonic Dances" from West Side Story, apparently in the order that Bernstein preferred, not in show order.

Larry, have you heard it...or heard of it?

Topic of the Day:

Candide Overture
Glitter And Be Gay
Make Our Garden Grow
New York, New York
One Hundred Easy Ways
Some Other Time
Swing!
What's the Use (from Candide...I just love this music :D)
Wrong-Note Rag (when it's sung correctly...I've heard several recordings where the singers can't sing the "wrong" notes the way that they're written.  I hate that.)

No, I haven't. In fact, I didn't know Kim had recorded "Trouble In Tahiti." It's a wonderful piece.

Any other shows that should have been recorded then that we have missed?

There may have beena few flops that might have been recorded. The most serious loss besides LOVE LIFE and WHERE'S CHARLEY? is the fantastic Villa-Lobos flop MAGDALENA.

But we did get a recording of it with Judy Kaye. Quite lush and lovely.

I have that recording.  I think that it was one of the first Judy Kaye recordings that I ever owned.

I would like to thank all of you who have offered me vibes for my callback tomorrow night.  I think just about every actor that is over 40 and still breathing will be at callbacks.  It is going to be a very long night.

I checked the recording out on Amazon. Both Kim and Rod Gilfry are good friends, so I will have to buy the recording.

As to the Symphonic Dances, I think the point is that the score for the dances in not in show order and the one reviewer was pissed that they weren't. I'm assuming the recording is of the symphonic Dances as they've always been recorded. The score sequence is this:
  Prologue
  Somewhere
  "I Have A Love"
  Scherzo from Act Two Ballet
  Mambo
  "Maria" cha-cha
  Cool
  Rumble
  Finale
