I'm expecting a copy of INSIDE JOB in today's mail.

The financial industry is so complex that I think it's difficult for many of us--myself included--to sort out what's what. Yes, many of us were rather shocked that the government was pouring billions of dollars into private companies, but those companies were in powerful positions. I'm not trying to justify any actions, just saying that I think it's hard to know sometimes what the right action is. As for the arrogance of certain CEOs, well, that can be mind-boggling. Maybe looking at things in hindsight we can gain a better perspective of where the lines ought to be drawn.

Glad to hear that BK's cell reception has improved. My cell reception is fine--it's my broadband that needs improvement. Oy!

Hmmm, Jeanne's last post said 3:35, but my clock says it is only 3:23.  And we are in the same time zone.

It's been a very good day but a very long one. First, I had a nice breakfast with Susanna and Peter Tarjan, whom I met at 8:30 at Popover. We left around 9:45 and I took a bus to City Center. I left there, my mind completely fried, around 5:30. I spent most of the day making cuts in parts, the huge one being in "The New Ashmolean Marching Society and Students Conservatory Band." All in all, a good day. Back tomorrow at 10.

Tonight, I plan to chill out, read more of the d'Amboise bio, watch some tv, and crash relatively early. Tomorrow night I have a dinner date with Steven LaBrie, who's in town for some voice lessons. He's young, bright, and possessor of twice twice my energy. I have to rest up for this!

DR ELMORE any cuts in THAT song would have to be an improvement.

It's really wonderful with the orchestration intentionally full of wrong notes to sound like an amateur band. The dance music, which originally featured a dancer playing the drum major, goes on forever and that's where the cut was made.

DR JRand60, you should check out that Jacques d'Amboise DVD. A couple of the dances are quite wonderful.

Bruce, thanks for the comments on "Inside Job" thought I don't expect any surprises. I just moved it higher on our NetFlix queue.  Did you watch "Waiting for Superman"?

From Cilla:

There is some experimental treatments at Mayo clinic that have had some success.  I do know he's going there as well as to his doctors in Des moines.   I will say it's nice to live very near to Mayo clinic.

Good.  I hate to ask about trials as many people aren't interested in checking them out.  I kept talking to my sister about looking into them, which she wouldn't do.  Once it was too late she called me to check some out.  By then she wasn't a candidate for them.

Wednesday morning greetings!  It's raining in Lima, perfect weather for shopping at the mall.  Our Ash Wednesday service is at 7pm and we'll drive home after that unless the rain has turned to snow or ice.  It's not supposed to do that until after midnight, so we should be OK.

My hiking group went to a trail near a nice coffee shop we normally stop at after the hike.  Today many of them had to get back to shower and go to the 12:30 service.  That's what I get for hiking with a church group. ;)

There's nothing truly "new" in their award-winning film analysis that people in the financial services community didn't know very very well back in December 2008 carrying into early 2009.

Kudos to the film for filmmaking, but the only thing that's new is they've told old news well, it seems.  Many many people felt and dealt with the outrage starting in early 2009, that may be why we're not feeling it more now because a movie told it well.

I am amazed how many people didn't get it or believed the "fixes" would work.

Laura - I must have milk in my coffee, and that'll make the hacky cough worse, and that's the source of the crabbiness.  :)

;D  I hope you may soon have milk in your coffee again!!!

A sign that people are interested in "Inside Job" is that when I went to place a reservation on it at the library, there were more than 100 reservations ahead of mine.

It is a long wait on NetFlix :)
