DR CILLA LIZ - I bought two of the Atlas Shrugged lapel pins.....one for me and one for my sister.  They arrived a couple of weeks ago, they are very nice.

I thought I would wait until the movie came out before I bought anything else.

And now I need to take a pause for some coffee, as well to bag up a few more things for the folks at Housing Works.

I liked the musical numbers, but the rest of the movie:

 :(

Why was Alan Cumming even in the movie?

They cut his one number...but it is in the Deleted Scenes.

Festival of the West.....is Carroll Baker going to be there?

Yes, I liked the musical numbers (auto tuned as they were) and the costumes....where would a club like that get a budget for stuff like they were wearing?

Something that is probably NOT news to HHW readers.....I think I knew this, but forgot it.

Martha Plimpton from RAISING HOPE is the daughter of Shelly Plimpton who sang "Frank Mills" in the original Broadway cast of HAIR and Mr Keith Carradine.....who joined the show at a later date.....and was with Shelly for awhile.

As I peruse the internet this morning, and particularly HHW, I am listening to the soundtrack to the 1964 film GOGOLA, which is the Bollywood version of GODZILLA (Gojira).

The songs are quite peppy and fun. I imagine the movie is, also.

Should you want to hear the songs from GOGOLA (and who wouldn't), just click here:  http://www.raaga.com/channels/hindi/album/H002043.html

I sure hope someone releases this onto DVD some day!!!

And also of some interest to some is that Martha is the god-daughter of our dear friend Bill Parry, who was among many other roles the Boatman in original Sunday in the Park..., the father in Road Show and in the Bernadette Peters Gypsy, and also starred in the original production of the musical The Last Starfighter, and who also sang a few songs in this very apartment last Friday.

Since I didn't get much posting done yesterday, I will try to make up for that today.

From yesterday's TOD, here are the last few books that I read:

Currently I am reading HALF ASSED MARINES, a book written by one of my interviewees Seamon Glass (star of the sci fi film THIS IS NOT A TEST).

I have only just started the book, but it is likely to be quite entertaining. Seamon used to write a column for a California newspaper back in the 1980s, and he was very funny.

The book I just finished was ALARM OF THE BLACK CAT, which is part of a series of mystery books from the 1940s/50s featuring elderly Rachel Murdock who somehow always manages to become embroiled in murder. Takes place in Los Angeles, which makes it quite fun.

Today I am driving over to Aumsville to pick up my mom and take her out to lunch and so she can do some shopping at Macy's. Prior to that I hope to get my apartment picked up a little as it has developed into quite a mess of late.

Sunday afternoon greetings!  We are back early from Lima because Richard has rehearsal in an hour for a choral evensong service that Rob and I will attend at 5pm.  Richard's napping now and as soon as I'm sure he's awake and off to rehearsal, it's my turn.

I've decided that for this year I want to bake my corned beef for St. Patricks day but all the recipes I've found say it takes at least 2 hours.  I don't want to wait until bedtime to eat so I'm going to bake it today and freeze it for Thursday.

I've never been a big fan of boiled cabbage either and found a new recipe to sautee it with onions.  Sounds good.  Anyway I shall give it a try.

Here is the web page with the recipes:

http://simplyrecipes.com/recipes/corned_beef_and_cabbage/

DR Danise, I've had sauteed  cabbage before. Man I haven't made that in years.  I added bacon to the onions.

I just bought a new laptop. I will also be purchasing a new desktop in the next couple of days. The laptop should be here by the end of March but they give you a later date and it usually ships before so we shall see.

We will be giving the old laptop to Anthony's mother. She doesn't like the old, old desktop we gave here 4 years ago so she should be pleased with this one.

I shall scrub the hard drive of the old desktop on Long Island and also the old desktop here in NY and then we will figure out what to do with them.
