BK AND THE HOLY GRAIL
« on: April 02, 2011, 12:11:11 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes spoke of a Holy Grail, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're currently looking for the Dead Sea Scrolls and The Black Hole of Calcutta.

I have never done any of those things in my life.

And I am old.

ICE PALACE!!!

I love that movie....especially Martha Hyer's movie starlet heart attack....and the man in the bear suit attacking actor Steve Harris...AND George Takei as WANG.

Plus Diane McBain......who was headlined in a movie magazine story in 1960 featuring her co-star...."The Night Richard Burton Made Me a Woman!"

I forget what the article was about, but I never forgot the headline on the front of the magazine.

TOD: I enjoy doing spontaneous things (especially when planned out in advance).

I guess my most spontaneous moment was deciding with a friend that we needed to go have dinner Miami that night. We lived about three and half hours away on the other side of Florida, but we wanted the best stone crab claws we could find. And that meant a drive across the peninsula. So we drove, had dinner (a memorable dinner) and drove back home.

I want to see the dvd of TANGLED.  My niece got it for getting a good report card. Anyhow I asked her if I could borrow it. ANd she was like, "no, you can't borrow it."  I explained that it meant I just took it for a day and then gave it back to her. But she did not like that idea. She told me if I wanted to see it that I could watch it with her. :)

John G - Was that waiter last night being deliberately rude using his own discretion, or did you get the feeling this is a policy of the joint?

God morning, all! This morning I awoke to fnd I was overdrawn. How rude!

Before I awoke to discover this horrible news, I dreamed I was trying to get out of an appointment to have an order of carnivorous plants delivered and potted. I have no idea where this one came from.

DR John G, Rameau, Stravinsky, Handel, and the dread Glass who gives me no gas but intense headaches? I would guess there's a baroque-classical connection: Handel and Rameau = 18th Century composers, Glass and Stravinsky = 20th century writers; Glass + Vivaldi = neoclassical composition. You didn't mention the Stravinsky piece, but I'm suspectng it's from his neoclassic period as well, which runs from around 1920 with "Pulcinella" to around 1953, after "The Rake's Progress."

Today, more Herbert. I can't afford to go anywhere!

one time my Mom and the 2 year old Vixter and I went on a vacation to our timeshare in Kissimmee - I drove  from Long Island to Florida --- as we approached Georgia   Mom and I reminicsed about a restaurant in Savannah that we had visited when our family did the Disney trip back when I was 16....

Mom checked the AAA guide and Lo and behold it was still there - The Pirates House in Savannah so we veered off 95 and found it

It had gotten cheesier over the years but the food was good - and my Mom was amazed that I would take a several hour round trip detour for lunch --- my Dad  believes that all car trips are about "making time" and stops should take a maximum of 15 minutes

One winter day when the Vixter was 9 or 10 I spontaneously took the afternoon off of work - took her out of school early and took her sledding

The place just opened a few days ago and it is swamped. I think he was just not thinking.

the Stravinsky piece was Dumbarton Oaks from the late 1930s. There was another piece on the prgoram that i can't remember, a piece for brass instruments from the late 1500s.
