I am not having a good day, Friday or any other. I went down the basement this morning to find the carpet soaked with water. It's raining out and it's coming in from somewhere. BUT, as soon as I took a moment to relax I found an email from my mortgage co saying I hadn't paid my mortgage. I did...via THEIR website. My bank said there are no waiting transfers and it hasn't been paid, so now I have to deal with that.

Oh and Boo just threw up. Do i really want to go to work today?

I love "Desk Set." The Christmas party scene where Hepburn sings "Night and Day" just makes me want to work for that company. And I love how hilarious the size of Emerack, Miss Emmy, the computer, is.

Of course, I saw the original of "My Man Godfrey" first and on numerous occasions before seeing the remake, and that always colors things. (Though I never could sit through the colorized "My Man Godfrey.")

I have returned. I don't think I committed a faux pas. I did think of you, Elmore, when the priest was swinging the smoking purse. I kept my fingers out of the holy water, and I didn't participate in the communion. The priest pretty much told us what to do.

Back from Teddy and I look quite coifed. There is some sort of police activity in my nabe, though. Traffic on Laurel Canyon was backed up for two miles - I managed to get off and take an alternate route, thank goodness. But even the alterate street (which usually lets you out two blocks east of Laurel Canyon, right where the offices of Varese Sarabande are) was closed off, but I simply stayed on the street I was on, went up a hill and came down about four blocks east of that. There are helicopters everywhere right now, and traffic on Laurel, both north and south is standing there. So, no other trips by motor car today, other than food and mail a bit later. But neither of those trips are anywhere near the problem area.

Apparently, police identified a murder suspect - said suspect fled on foot. How they identify a suspect who then flees on foot is anyone's guess, but he's apparently hiding in the vicinity of Carpenter school (which is just up the street from the Varese offices). The school is on lockdown while they hunt this sucker down. It's very unnerving hearing those helicopters circling.

Ok, things are a little better. No way I can keep up with the rain without being at home to keep emptying the bucket, but I needed to be here to put out a few fires so people don't stew about nothing all weekend and come Monday it's a full blown freak out. Fires out. Snow in the air....now if it keeps snowing, the rain will be less....

The furnace room looks really nice and clean now. The only thing left to replace is the antiquated water softener, but it apparently is doing ok because the water heater lasted a long time.

I was "tagged" on Facebook with a photo of us at the Bernese Mountain Dog gathering. Keith was able to fix Sherlock's blue eye so it looks natural. Unfortunately Keith couldn't do anything about his very sunburned nose.
