As for the Topic of the Day...

Well... I've actually liked some of Woody Allen's more recent films...

What amazes me most about BORDER FLIGHT, DR JMK - is that there is an all out government effort and men dying and planes crashing....to smuggle FURS across the border from Canada!

Not drugs, not booze....but furs!

Thanks for the photo and report DR BEN.

The parents and sister of Marilyn our pianist live in Joplin.  They are all safe.  Her sister lost her house and car, but parents house is okay.

No electricity or natural gas as of last night - but they survived, which is good news!

Why is it the people with the smallest parts are the most irritating and picky about their costumes?  When it doesn't even really matter what they wear......the woman who plays the part of the farmer's wife in the Iowa Stubborn "American Gothic" moment and the farmer himself - keep making demands about how they need this or that.....

Last night she said to me (she has bleached blonde hair) - "How do I make my hair gray....are you going to buy me hair spray or will you use baby powder on me?"

I said...No, you will wear a wig - no need to spend all that time [ie money] on you.

Well in the picture she is wearing a bun and the hair is parted in the middle.

You will wear whatever gray wig we have upstairs.

In BOTH of the other shows I have been in with her - she decided one night to just not come to a performance because she was "tired" and needed to rest....

Her "husband" said to the poor costumer last night:  "Are my pants hemmed yet?"  "No [ie I'm working on the costumes for people who actually have parts in the show]."  Take your pants home and let your wife hem them, dumbass.  He also refused to wear the hat I bought him because it was too big and came down too far on his forehead.  So now he's wearing a straw cowboy hat that is ridiculous....

Dumb people......I put both their names in my "do not cast" file....permanently.  Shelly wasn't so lucky.

Only 4 of 6 people have found my review of FRANCES FARMER: THE LIFE AND FILMS OF A TROUBLED STAR on Amazon to be "helpful."

Speaking of Roscoe Karns (and this will show you why I have splinters in the windmills of my mind)--I tried to track down Katherine Orrison, the lady who does the commentary on The Ten Commandments, to ask her where/how she got her information that Herb Alpert is one of the kids trying to get the mule "started" in the Exodus sequence.  Herb is indeed in the film as an extra, but he was 20 or 21 when it was filmed, so unless he was a *really* good actor, I don't think he could have pulled off being 6 or 7, the age of the little boy in that sequence.  Katherine does not have her own email, she has a "handler" who forwards everything, and his nom d'internet is Roscoe Karns.  He told me he had forwarded my inquiry, but she never responded.  B****.  :)

IMDb indicates he was "drummer on Mt. Sinai" [uncredited] in "The 10 Commandments".

Yes, that's the unconfirmed "rumor."   ;D

She was probably too busy talking to Titanic "expert" Silvia Stoddard who declared that Bruce Ismay was not mentioned by name in the 1953 film because he was still alive at the time of filming.....even though even a casual fan and reader of A NIGHT TO REMEMBER would know that Ismay died in Ireland in 1937.

Now I'm imagining THE TEN COMMANDMENTS with a Herb Alpert score.

I LOVED Woody Allen's early films. These days it's sort of hit or miss, but I still like to see them. Favorites? Can't say.
