Dinner was fun. Steve has just eben given the all-clear from his oncologist, so dinner was a good celebration. He still gets a tinny taste with some meat fat, especially bacon, but he's doing well. He cooked an amazing meal, fajitas and pinto beans with a key lime-mango pie for dessert, and his wife, Sandy, had to be the taste-tester for everything. She did a good job.

I'm about to call it a night.  Richard's going to participate, in the honor guard, in tomorrow's parade and other ceremonies.  I've had 3 days in a row of having to be up and out in the morning and I really need a morning of not doing that.  He agrees that I have no business standing out in the hot sun.

See y'all tomorrow - 'night!

Cilla have you seen this touching story of a Joplin high school student?

Thanks for sharing that, I hadn't seen it

BK - The Golden Lamb is still there.  We live about 15 miles from there and I was just there for lunch last month.  Next time, I'll order the fried chicken!

Do they serve lamb at The Golden Lamb? -Or just fried chicken? ;)

DR Jose, here's their website. You'd love the food.
http://www.goldenlamb.com/

I've decided that Mirabell and Millamant are not yet sexually involved, but their scene laying out the conditions of marriage is absolutely brilliant. After he leaves, she has a wonderful line to Mrs Fainall along the lines of "if this marriage doesn't happen. I shall be lost - for I find I love him violently."

That menu is incredible.

Hmmm... Now I'm imagining a baguette made with daisies, geraniums and hydrangeas. ;)

Beat me to it...

Here's my answer to your question what's happening in Florida.

Not sure what's happening but Gay Day at Disney has already started and not just in Orlando. It has become a money making proposition instead of a day of gay pride. It's getting ludicrous.

Other than that June 1 is the start of hurricane season.

If you have some free time come down for a visit.

I'm getting jittery about the weather between now and Tuesday.  Severe thunderstorms tonight and possible tornadoes tomorrow night.  I actually went to my office, unplugged the computers and brought home the network Backup drive.   I don't usually do that much, but it makes me feel better, so I did it

I have a friend who is an minister and is filling in for a minister in northern Indiana who is in the hospital.  He said one of his little churches was discussing how they can help Joplin without sending money to some unknown group.  He mentioned Joe.  So, i gave him some more details....how Joe crawled from house to house turning off the gas...and other little things.  I'm excited about all the great responses, but a little afraid that getting the mail this week may be a bit overwhelming.   Luckily I have a light week, so if I have a lot to do to record and get the checks ready to send to Joe it will be ok

The weatherman just said...."We have a significant severe threat of storms, we could have large hail, damaging winds and some tornadoes....I'm not trying to scare you, so still enjoy your Memorial Day, but the threat is there"

Watching Ken Burns' "Jazz" series. Amazing archival footage, fine interviews, the music could not be better. Why am I not liking it more? Maybe the lengthy stories of the artists' addictions and other tragedies, the racism, the stupidity of so much behind such wonderful music.

I'm watching a Region 2, PAL DVD from England called Christopher and His Kind, about Christopher Isherwood and his time in Berlin, which inspired the musical Cabaret

It stars the newest Doctor Who, Matt Smith, and he's very good in this.  He must've made this just before he became the new Doctor.

If this is an accurate portrayal of his life, you can see how parts of it became Cabaret.

I was going to watch "The Boy Friend" next, but it won't play in my region code-free DVD player. :P

It does play in my Blu-ray player, though, so I'm watching it on that.
