The Eden was an Off-Broadway theatre. It began as part of the Yiddish Theatre and it's now a multi-plex movie theatre.

Isn't the Eden where I saw JOSEPH/DREAM COAT with Laurie Beechman before it movd uptown?

I had two big opportunities that year that I just discarded--one was going to see SMITH in rehearsals and the other was to be a go-fer on a Movie of the Week that was filming in Central Park.  I was really stupid.  Instead I "got" to talk to Gerry Page and Rip Torn courtesy of my insane Uncle and also went to lunch with Harrison Starr, also courtesy of my insane uncle.  ;)

What I remember most about Harrison Starr was his Jewfro, which was really quite immense.  As well as his advice not to go into acting, to stick to writing.  He actually looked over some of my writing that day and was complimentary, but of course my insane uncle was sitting there menacingly.  :)

TOD: Forever Plaid. And if it ever played at an off-Broadway theater, Lucky Stiff. And No Way to Treat a Lady. And How the Other Half Loves.

DR JMK, glad you got your DVDs and glad that you are enjoying them. There are some on that list that I need to  get...one of these days.

Right now I am contemplating buying a dvd of a 1950s Malaysian movie about a giant rock that  devours people. It sounds good.

Well, DR Jose, my hope is that Hugh Jackman, Brian D'Arcy James, and/or Tom Wopat will be appearing on stage when I am there.

Three of your shows were Off-Broadway, although FOREVER PLAID, as I recall, was a cabaret show that never went into an Off-Broadwy house. Didn't it play at Palssons, triad, whatever it was called then?

How the Other Half Loves, as I recall, was on Broadway.

Only DR MBarnum, a man of discerning taste and extreme devotion to cinematic art, would find a film about a people-eating rock interesting.

I almost vomited on the ground typing this post.

There are a couple of Castrecl posters that drive me up the wall with their stupidity. I have a difficult time suffering fools with patience. Some of these posters dealing with the Tony Awards, who don't work in the professional theatre, have all the answers. I feel it would be similar if I decided to go to a medical conference and critique methods of surgery.

Yes, I seemed to remember it was downtown.  One of my Uncles lived on W. 11th between 5th and 6th and my other Uncle was up on E. 17th at the time (I think maybe I was staying with him that time).

I believe Grease and The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas also started there and were both classified as Broadway houses

Well, I'm back from Disneyland in which I waved at BK as I drove passed his 'hood on the 101 at about 11:00am yesterday.

The trip was great.  If you follow me on facebook and have some time, you can see the videos my friend Angela and posted throughout the weekend.

Spending my morning studying The Wiz which I begin next week.   Kinda scared, it's so not my style- you know, being white and all!!

And before he tries to say he never got the emails, perhaps he should check his spam folder. Then again, I think he's received them.

check your email

I have received no e-mail and I don't have any sort of spam program, so maybe you mis-typed the address?

EDIT: Just showed up.

TOD: I love most of the shows already mentioned. Did "Romance/Romance" start off Broadway? I enjoyed quite a few songs from that and found the production charming.

"Nunsense" always makes me laugh, even if the score is uneven.

The various editions of "Forbidden Broadway" are also hilarious.

Worst: Frankenstein the Musical
