DR Elmore, I once threw out a whole set of dishes rather than wash them.   I should add they were hand me downs from a friend, not a complete set and I hated them, but I did throw them out.   Ever since that time, I've had a dishwasher and it hasn't happened again.  I was young at the time

I am told that my DH used to put dirty dishes in a bucket to soak. He never got around to washing them, though.

DR CILLA LIZ - it's time for people to stop inviting that friend to ANYTHING....ANYTHING.....as long as she is allowed to do that....she will do it.  YOU have stood up to her....and GOOD FOR YOU!

You should have scratched the other lady's name out......or circled it and charged her 50 cents for her share of the card.

I was pretty shocked that she wrote her name, I think she thought it was a group card or something, but she wasn't even invited, lol.  I let that slide because Mark didn't pass it around until our side of the table had looked at it, laughed about it etc.  He knows where it came from, so it bothered me, but not enough to say something.

Too bad that you couldn't get her to sign her name when the check came.

The friend who invited us to dinner picked up the check for me and Mark the other birthday. That was her plan all along.   On the really bright side, I had a great walleye dinner with a nice pinot grigio

From tonight's news footage, the killer of the 9 year-old Hassidic boy in Broklyn is already having a rough time in jail with the inmates who are ready to kill him for murdering a child. Has anyone read Thornton Wilder's BRIDGE OF SAN LUIS REY? I read it over 40 years ago, but I have no real memory of it, but it's my memory - real or not - that it's a study of people who are fated to die on that bridge and how they got there.

Thinking about this novel keeps reminding me of this poor boy; he gets lost and walks till he asks a stranger for help. He could have asked a person who got him safely home but instead he ended up with his killer. I've just ordered a copy of the novel. I want to read it again now.

Hmmm, I may have to look for that.  I'm also going to order Jaycee Dugard's book.  I'm not interested in the gory details, but that girl went through hell and appears to have come out pretty good.  I'm happy to buy her book and hope she makes millions

I'm tempted to purchase the book for the same reason but will likely pass.  She did settle her $20 million lawsuit.

She should get that.  The parole officers were in and out of that house and never checked out the back yard.  that's outrageous

Especially the number of times they were there. :o

I thought the plan was to pick up everyone's tab, didn't realize it was just the birthday folks.  That extra guest situation isn't as bad then.

The original plan was to pick up everyone's tab.  She was still going to pick up the tab of the invited guests, then "friend" insisted on paying her own so I guess she just covered 4 people.

Just one more post.

Hello, DR TCB! How are you feeling today?

I am very crippled up today.  Spent most of my day sitting.

At home or at work?  I pray the MRI finds a fix for this.

The question is whether or not I can afford the fix.

That's scary DR JOSE....

The traffic part - not the haircut part.
The hair cut part is scary.

http://www.businessinsider.com/jerry-seinfeld-jon-stewart-michele-bachmann-video-2011-7

Having seen this clip from the Jon Strwart show, it's my belief that Mr and Mrs Bachmann are basing all of their bigotry and homophobia on internal self-loathing. Seriously, Mikey, if Mr Bachmann is not gay and filled with self-denial, I am Marie of Roumania. And that idiot Michelle is Cleopatra Queen of Denial.  I can only hope he's caught cruising a men's room before Michelle's campagn for president becomes a reign of terror. Is she running on a platform of "Keep American Stupid?" Personally, I think congress should pass a "Keep America Intelligent" campaign and deport or execute her.
Aren't you Marie of Roumaina?

Michelle Bachman doesn't know the difference between John Wayne and John Wayne Gacy and she wants us to believe she can make decisions that will affect us all?

Laura I took it off the internet.  You might find the article interesting. http://audubon2.org/watchlist/viewSpecies.jsp?id=199

I did see them & insisted Keith go back to see them, which of course he was glad he did having never seen them before.

I don't know anything about Michelle Bachman. But from the little I've heard, she sounds kinda stupid.

Each day of the Synod opens with a 7am mass.  Wednesday was celebrated by a bishop.  Today was celebrated by a bishop.  Tomorrow is being celebrated by - wait for it - Father Palmer.  He's remarkably calm tonight, but some vibes would be appreciated.  After the service and breakfast, we're going to pack the car and he'll go to meetings and I'll go across to Starbucks for coffee with - again, wait for it - DR Edisaurus.

'night!
