DR TCB re: what you said yesterday about not liking the enclosed space of the MRI. Don't they now have some machines that are open on both sides in the middle. I didn't have one like that (mine was enclosed). But it sounds like a much better idea.

For me i had 2 problems. 1) the enclosed space but 2) the loud noise. I had a migraine at the time and found the noise pretty unbearable.

I just watched and absolutely beautiful movie which Netflix had delivered to me this week. The film is UNDERTOW.

It is a Peruvian film (my first one!) and it is about a married fisherman who is in love with another man. It is a ghost story and one of the best films I have seen in a looooooooooong time.

Here is the trailer, if you are interested.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91BTpgqfbQI

Beware, the movie has some nudity in it, however.

You mean to say that you are _ _  years old, and this is your first Peruvian film??

How is your foster doing?

They were all supposed to have surgery today and go to adoptions tomorrow. But the shelter cut the price on dogs to get more of them adopted because the shelter is full. So the vet canceled us to get the dogs in.

Hopefully next week.

I am hoping you are correct, Jennifer.  I keep telling myself that by this time tomorrow it will all be over.  And if I ever want to walk again, I have to get it done.

But as a bacvkup plan, I am writing a stage version of IRONSIDE, and I may tour the country in that role.

I couldn't decide whether to have a slice of cheesecake or a Magnum.  I went with the cheesecake, but I might have a Magnum, too.

Yeah!!! I don't have everything done I need to do before the party, but I got enough done that tomorrow will be a breeze and that was my goal.  The livingroom hasn't been this clean in ages.   I have my corner where I sit and it tends to get very cluttered. Not tonight.

Good Evening!

Well, our first "official" performance - or was it our second one? - went very well.

...And thus starts our first 5-show weekend (Friday + Saturday matinee + Saturday evening + Sunday matinee + Sunday evening). *And each weekend of this 12-week run is a 5-show weekend.

Weird question, jose - Is it remotely possible that there was yet another party for the donors that all that reported food was being made for?  or was that food just a figment of someone's imagination?

DR FJL - Nope. The donors party was the reception immediately following the performance: open bar and desserts. I guess "we" all had figured that some "real food" would be available - provided - later to the cast and crew. "We" did see trays of food from CostCo sitting on the staff kitchen counter, so... But those trays turned out to be filled pita chips, vegetables, hummus and cookies. -Better than nothing. In the end, no one was truly disappointed or felt cheated. And most of us were just tired anyway after such a long week.

However, there was plenty o' food in the greenroom before the show. Lots of opening night goodies that various people brought in: candy, brownies, pies, a bushel of just-picked vine-ripened peaches(!).

Jose, I'm curious about something.  Is there much interaction between the cast and the orchestra before and after the performances?  At Tacoma Musical Playhouse there is a lot of camaraderie, but they use a lot of the same musicians every show, so becomes kind of a family.  When I did GUYS AND DOLLS at Seattle Music Theatre the cast and musicians had only a nodding acquaintance.

Since you will all be together until October is there a closer interaction?

More or less everyone hangs out in the green room before the show - cast, orchestra, crew - and sometimes the occasional board member (it's one of their perks). Afterwards, it all depends on the day of the week. Most of the musicians have "day jobs", so they usually head right home afterwards. Some of the actors will hang out and have a drink in the lobby bar afterwards. And sometimes everyone just hangs out for a while.

Fr. Richard celebrated a beautiful mass this morning - thanks for the never-too-late vibes, DR FJL!  After the service we had breakfast at the hotel, packed the car, and he went to the final Synod session and I went to Starbucks for coffee with DR Edisaurus and her DH Greg.  We had a very nice visit and I told her how much she's missed here and gave her a big HHW hug.  The Synod was just adjourning when I got back to the hotel - Richard and I got away about 11:45.

DR Ginny - Sounds like you had a good day in the ATL. Hopefully, the rest of your drive back to Middletown will be timely and uneventful.

I had read a good article about the film in the New York Times. Didn't know it was out on DVD. Thanks.

...And speaking of traffic...

During the course of my ride home tonight, I encountered:

-A faulty card reader in the parking garage.
-Three major(!) work zones.
-Two major accidents.

...Give me a delayed A train anytime. ::)

Thanks for all the VIBES for my sister-in-law!

DR Jose if it is thyroid cancer the survival rate is extremely high as is the quality of life after treatment.  Even the treatment is better than most.

DR Jane - Thankfully, the treatment and cure(?) of thyroid cancer is quite "easy". It's just so weird that the cyst developed so fast - even her doctor was shocked. Additionally, other forms of cancer run in her family, so they're hoping it's not related to something else.

Had a great dinner tonight with friends. The restaurant uses only local products and prepares everything in an old-fashioned way. No food processors, no microwaves, no blenders. Nothing frozen. Everything fresh.

I told the waiter I was diabetic and couldn't have the dessert, which was included in the three-course meal. The chef came out, asked about various items on the menu and I ended up with a meal that had no potatoes, polenta or flour, all of which were part of the regular meal. And instead of dessert, a local  cheese platter with five excellent cheeses from Texas.

I can't tell you how good that treatment made me feel.
