I saw  1776 back in the 1970s when the National Company was at the Dorothy Chandler in Los Angeles.

I believe that Rex Everhart played Ben Franklin.

Does anybody recall who played the other principals?

Thanks.

That's actually probably the tour I saw, Druxy.  I know that Daniels was John Adams.  I probably have the program somewhere.  Something is telling me John Cullum was in the tour, but I may be misremembering.

From John G:
Quote
I told the waiter I was diabetic and couldn't have the dessert, which was included in the three-course meal. The chef came out, asked about various items on the menu and I ended up with a meal that had no potatoes, polenta or flour, all of which were part of the regular meal. And instead of dessert, a local  cheese platter with five excellent cheeses from Texas.

I can't tell you how good that treatment made me feel.

A few times we have had similar treatment after mentioning we are vegetarians, very rarely though including adjustments for my food allergies.  I can appreciate how nice it felt.

DR Barnum did the storm head your way?  Shortly after I signed off last night we lost our power for several hours.

Yogi was not happy with the thunder, especially with Craig gone.  He didn't eat all his breakfast this morning.  Usually I feed him & leave the room until he is done (he is kind of food aggressive).  This morning when I went back to let him out he wouldn't come & had me follow him to his food.  He hadn't eaten & seemed to want me in the room while he ate half of it.

I hope Craig didn't have a storm last night.

Blanche managed to escape the dog run yesterday while I was gone to a gig.  Zach luckily noticed right away and he and Gabe corraled her.  She really is a little troublemaker at times.  We then realized we don't have current address/phone name tags for either of the dogs, so I'll make those today at Freddy's.

Really loving this new Deodato album.  Jarreau, Londonbeat, Airto and a bunch of other folks are on it.  Highly recommended.

I spent quite a bit of time attempting to decipher the Jarreau tune's lyric this morning and think I finally have it.

Unless of course it wasn't.  :)

I know I had my Dad buy me the program.  Where it is now is another matter.

It will be nice when BK wakes up and fixes the posting problems: totday's posts, as DR Ben announced earlier, are showing up as yesterday's on the contents of the "Daily Discussions" page.

I've been listening to the new KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY with the vocal score and I am amazed at the number of cuts, 40 bars here, 2 bars there.

Isn't this supposed to be the first complete recording?

I thought the Weill Foundation had control on how his scores are recorded

Yes, I think that this is the company that played Los Angeles, too.

Thank you.

Jon Cypher, who played Thomas Jefferson in the 1776 national company, used to be my marriage counselor.

My first wife and I were going to a counselor and, at one session, the therapist asked if he could bring in an intern.

That intern was Jon Cypher, who I had actually met 3-4 months before through Howard Keel.

I guess he was going back to school just in case his acting career petered out.

Whether he ever got his counseling certificate, I don't know, because a few months later, he was playing "Peron" in EVITA at the Shubert...and then his film/TV career really took off with HILL STREET BLUES and lots of other stuff.

He also did a very good western with Burt Lancaster, VALDEZ IS COMING.

Anybody know what Jon is doing these days?

I'm pleased to hear that Larry's debit card problem has been resolved.

I lost my new Discover card about a week ago. I rarely lose anything, but since it's a credit card I felt I'd better cancel it. I will say that their customer service was very good and I had my new card in just a few days. I was also told that they offer zero liability protection. Given the decline of customer service in general in the past few years, I was pleased and impressed.

TOD:
Although I like comedies, I find most of them rather lame. I did enjoy AT HOME WITH THE BRAITHWAITES. I also enjoyed THE BRAIN FROM PLANET X.

I appreciate DR Pogue's recommendations. I will certainly try QI, and perhaps some of the others, as well.

I could use some of Cillaliz's tornado energy today. My little apartment could use a THOROUGH cleaning, and I had hoped to do some of that today, as well as some tossing. We'll see. I had trouble getting to sleep again last night, so mega cleaning isn't really in the cards.

Party vibes to Cillaliz. May you have a lovely time.

Jeanne, did you really mean to post that they offer zero liability protection?  I'm assuming you mean you're not liable for any charges, right?
