The traffic in this city is so out of control it's pathetic.  Every street, every freeway - the freeways only because people put on their stupid suits - any "traffic at noon on any freeway (unless there's an accident) is caused by idiot drivers - that certainly was the case today - once you got beyond the three idiots, who were causing a half-mile's worth of bumper to bumper traffic, there were NO cars.  That's all it took - three idiots.

Got off at Highland and traffic was backed up all the way to the off-ramp and stayed that way.  Luckily I know a little short cut to John's apartment - it's right past the Hollywood Bowl.  If I'd tried to go down to Franklin, it would have been another thirty minutes to go a tenth of a mile.

A friend from church named Bruce is facing deep brain stimulation surgery this morning to deal with his Parkinson's disease. It sounds scary to me, because the patient is conscious while the doctor has his or her hands inside the cranium trying to find the source of tremors.

Bruce was supposed to have had this more than a year ago, but he had his hair cut short without telling the doctor and that wasn't a good thing because it apparently opens the scalp up to infection. (Some other medication that he had to take then postponed things further.)

Anyway, prayers and vibes for Bruce would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry for being E&T, but I've been spending my days with my mom who's in the hospital.  After suffering with stomach cramps all weekend, we brought her to the ER on Tuesday and found she was having a gall bladder attack.  What seemed to be a simple plan of removing the gall bladder has turned into a complex set of issues, tests and procedures.  So I'm asking for some HHW vibes to help my mom deal with it all.  Thanks!

Greetings from beautiful Grand Blanc, Michigan!  I had a smooth drive and arrived a couple of hours ago.  Thanks, DR George, for the travel vibes!

DR Jose--today's Express (the free tabloid published by the Washington Post) had the Post's review of Oklahoma on the back cover.  It was a rave, as I'm sure you know!

After I've already ordered Barbra Streisand's latest CD (featuring the lyrics of Alan and Marilyn Bergman) I find out that QVC has an exclusive edition complete with a behind-the-scenes DVD.

Put in rehearsal sounds kinky.

Well, show biz people do have that reputation.

We're not so kinky as government employees.

DR JRand60, I missed the sign about the CAMELOT opening date; I must have been to busy texting while I drove.

It was a 9.5 hour day. I am exhausted.

Shortly I shall be on my way to sup and then rehearse.  Hopefully we'll be off this damn page by the time I return.  Meanwhile, I'll have time to see two shows in NY - I'm thinking one of them should be Follies, since I know so many folks in the cast.  The other?  Nothing really speaks to me, but happy to take suggestions, and that includes plays.

Actually, DR TCB, yes, I do enjoy driving.  On today's trip I was entertained by the voice of Karen Ziemba reading Ann Patchett's novel The Magician's Assistant.  I also like being the passenger and navigating for Richard.

I have just heard that Bruce came through his surgery and is waiting to be placed in a room for the evening. They won't know for a week or so how successful it was, but he is said to be doing OK, which is good news.

I listened to that, too, and enjoyed it, which one slight exception that I won't mention until you've finished it. I have a reservation now for Patchett's new book on CD. I have to finish "The Count of Monte Cristo" first. I'm on disc 32 of 37 and I look forward to getting into the car every day, especially when the traffic is bad because the tension is wonderful.
