I've done my banking, and must soon jog.  Then I'm doing some kind of phone interview at two.

Actually, since it takes an hour to jog that's not going to work now, so I'll jog at three.

Okay, when I looked fifteen minutes ago there were several dear readers here.  All left without so much as a post.  We are truly in the dog days of summer and I, for one, look forward to the cat days of fall and winter.  Page three will NOT do.  And yet it is doing.  We can have twenty-six GUESTS enjoying the site but not one dear reader?

Monday evening greetings from Ohio!  I apologize for appearing to be sitting here like so much fish for the past 24 hours, but the internet connection got glitchy at my sister's and I could not log out.  My 5-hour drive was uneventful and I arrived home in time to eat dinner with Richard.

Well we now know why there was carpeting in the master bedroom.  There must have been a smaller bedroom there at one time and when they expanded it, instead of re-doing the entire floor, they feathered in pieces where the wall used to be GOING THE WRONG DIRECTION!!  So the refinishing project just got significantly more expensive.

Whew, the temperature has cooled down to 98 with a 77 degree dew point. Just south of here the dew point is 84 degrees and feels like 122 degrees.  Makes our heat index of 115 seem cool

And speaking of my next book, it's time for me to buckle down Winsocki and figure out what that book is going to be.

TOD - Although now I have to satisfy my ice cream cravings with frozen yogurt or sorbet, my favorite ice cream in the world is Graeter's Toffee Chip.  Or Mocha Chip.  Or Raspberry Chip.  As for ice cream concoctions, Graeter's makes a Turtle Sundae, which is their hot fudge and butterscotch toppings blended with pecans mixed in and poured over vanilla ice cream.  Hold the whipped cream, please.  I think whipped cream on ice cream is redundant.

I did the four-mile jog.  I'm really hungry but I'm not supping until seven-thirty.  Oh, dear.  Maybe I'll go have a snack somewhere.

Had a fun filled weekend of dog sitting and family visiting.

Indeed, SUPER 8 was a bit too intense for Taylor (age 9) and Ben (age 6) and we left before it ended. I will wait till the DVD release to find out how it all ends. I must say that I really enjoyed the film, except for some of the language.

Kyle Chandler was in it, also, and that certainly upped my interest in the film.
I met Kyle for a brief second while working as an extra on "Friday Night Lights." He didn't talk to us much, but he did take the time to talk to one of the high school kids who an extra as a football player. I liked that he took that time.

More TOD - being in Michigan this past weekend made me think of this ice cream treat:

It's a Sander's Cream Puff - pastry with a scoop of ice cream in the middle and bittersweet fudge syrup on top.

How about a murder mystery based on the denizens of HHW.

Another 7.5 hour day, but the materials are finished and en route to Dublin! Major relief.

Very nice, JohnG. I would love to meet Kyle Chandler. Have been a fan of his since his early 1990s series HOMEFRONT, a show I loved!

If you were found dead, there would be no - absolutely none - mystery! Instead of a whodunnit, it would be a "what took so long?"

Great show. I remember arch-conservative Mimi Kennedy having to spit out the word "Progressives!" She was a hoot on that. Loved every episode I saw.

Did somebody on this site write about the movie "Kill the Irishman"? Great cast, sadly wasted. I'm not sure I want to finish it.

The temperature here topped 103 today. It's supposed to do that tomorrow and the day after, too.
