Watching a silent German movie called "People on Sunday." Very beautiful scenes of pre-WW II Berlin, some of which I actually recognize from my short trip there. Nice mix of fictional story, acted by real people, and on-site footage of people enjoying a Sunday back then.

Yes, I wrote about People On Sunday a couple of weeks ago - a really lovely piece of work that is highly recommended.

Jose, you eat some weird things.

Well, it accompanied a delicious Chocolate Tart and drizzled with Olive Oil. YUM!

That was probably why I reserved it at the library. Thanks for the heads up.

I am home.  It was an interesting weekend.  Lots of drama and I am very glad to say I was not in the middle of any of it

Right now the sky is a very strange colod.  I can't tell if it's going to rain or if it's just the sunset through clouds or what it is, but it's not normal....

Off to a place called the Hangin' Tree Saloon for an evening of old-timey cowboy music. Songwriter by the name of James Hand. Writes a lot of his own stuff and some of it is good. I particularly like a song called "Shadows Where the Magic Was," about a guy who goes back to the house where he once lived with his ex.

Funny, before I moved to Texas, I wouldn't listen to any of that sort of music. Now, I have a healthy appreciation for it.

2nd night we stayed at the dog friendly Palomar Hotel in Westwood.  We had wine in the lobby before Keith's cousin arrived to walk into Westwood to meet her parents for dinner.  When we showed her the dog board with Sherlock's name she had us take photos.

Sherlock in front of the dog board.  Did you notice the magnifying glass next to his name?  ;D

After dinner Keith's cousin returned to the hotel with us to visit awhile.  The next morning we had breakfast in the lobby with Keith's brother before heading to Lake Arrowhead for the weekend wedding activities.

We felt terrible because it was Sherlock's 5th birthday & we had to leave him in a kennel.  At least he could spend the day playing outside with all the other dogs.

Day 3 at http://www.laresort.com/lars/default.htm for my sister's daughter's wedding:

We checked into our very large & nice room overlooking a little bit of the lake & the swimming pool.  We spied my ex-brother in-law at the pool with his family (wife & children after my sister) & the groom whom we hadn't met & our niece.  Down we went for a very nice visit with them.

Just as we returned to the lobby my brother, his two daughters plus the boy friend of the youngest walked in.  We visited a bit & made plans to meet by the pool.

The next time we went to the lobby my brother's son & family walked in, boy did we time those well.

Craig arrived in time for dinner with my brother's family & us but Bryan had to delay his flight out as he was invited to interview for a residency in ER where he just did his rotation.  Finger's crossed for Bryan.

I had a bit of a scare when I came home tonight.  Callie was really acting like she was in pain, trying to poop.   I ran upstairs and saw the check for the cat sitter still sitting there and immediately wondered what happened, so I left her a bit of a panicked message.  Then I noticed that the newspaper was here, the food I left out was used and she had clearly been here.

So I ran back to the basement and thankfully, there was a gift from Callie, so to speak.  She ran upstairs and I found her laying on her side not really moving.  She never does that.  So I sat with her for awhile and pet her head and talked to her.  She slowly started coming around and acting better. I think she's fine now.  She was just having a hard time passing it and was in pain.   I'll keep an eye on her, but she's acting like herself now

The cat sitter called me back all upset.  She was here, Callie got her meds and was acting fine.  I think I just happened to come home when she was having real problems.  Glad to know all is well

Poor Callie. Doesn't she often have trouble "leaving gifts?"

Yes, but not like this.  at least I haven't seen her like this.   She really acted scared when I had to give her meds tonight.  After she realized that's what I was doing she calmed down.
