While driving to Carmel on the winding coast road we were the second car stuck behind two idiot drivers up ahead.  For 45 minutes, far below the speed limit, we followed a white SUV with a paw print sticker on the back & the name Zoe above the paw print.  We kept trying to figure out what the large, Sherlock size, dog in the back was but it was difficult to see through the tinted windows.

While we were talking to Sidney & her family in comes a St. Bernard named Zoe, & yes they were also as frustrated as we were.  In fact they turned off the road before we did which is why they arrived at our hotel after we did.  They had heard of Sherlock & knew who we were.

Happy Birthday to DR singingnymph!! ;D

And former DR Diane (who hasn't posted since January 2004).

It's also the birthday of someone named "Pianogirl," but she's never posted. :P

.... "Postal Card" is no longer the weirdest song I've ever heard. It's some song about a boy from a place with an impossibly long name. One thing I noticed is that there were no programs, which is good because programs can spoil the surprise element, but bad because if you really like something, and you want to know what the heck it was, you have nothing to refer to. Bruce, what was the name of that crazy song?

I wonder if it's "The Boy From..." by Mary Rodgers and Stephen Sondheim.

Humor TWO

Two young businessmen in Florida were sitting down for a break in their soon-to-be new store in the shopping mall. As yet, the store wasn't ready, with only a few shelves and display racks set up.

One said to the other, "I'll bet that any minute now some senior is going to walk by, put his face to the window, and ask what we're selling."

Sure enough, just a moment later, a curious senior gentleman walked up to the window, looked around intensely and rapped on the glass, then in a loud voice asked, "What are you sellin' here?"

One of the men replied sarcastically, "We're selling ass-holes."

Without skipping a beat, the old timer said, "You must be doing well. Only two left."

Seniors -- don't mess with them, They didn't get old by being stupid!

Seems to me that almost all drawings of little girls during the 40s greatly resembled Little Audrey.  She must have been very influential.

The three sneezy kittens are sneezing and playing. Mother Kim is hissing at everyone.

Maybe you shold change her name to Donna Yvonne.

That's my sister-in-law Lady Macbeth's real name!

"This too shall pass" department.

A few weeks back, Woody received an urgent plea from a coworker who had an about to be trailer dispossed friend who was moving in with her daughter. Daughter's apartment had a no-dogs policy and the friend needed a temporary home for her dog, or she (the dog) would have to be dropped off at the pound from which she would likely never return.

Begrudgingly, I said OK - for a short while.

We went to greet the young lady (the dog) and she was a very friendly one year old face-licking pit bull. As we loaded her into the car her owner remarked, "Oh, buy the way, she's in heat!"

BY THE FRIGGIN' WAY !!!!!

Naturally the dog had neither shots nor license. The very next day she (the dog) had an encounter with our Bonnie which I had to break up and Bonnie was left nursing a bloody neck (Fortunately just skin punctures). Buster refuses to acknowledge the effects of his puppy surgery and followed the randy bitch everywhere trying to do that which he could not.

She really is a nice dog, just very protective and short tempered. She wants to be the center of attention (a typical pittie behavior). The owners have promised quite a few times to pick her up and place her elsewhere. They made another promise to get her this evening.

Actually, she has been behaving better and learning to share a bit with the other dogs. Fletcher (the dalmatian) thinks she's great fun and wants to play.

They called her Diamond, which we shorted to Di, and that has morphed into Dinah.

der Brucer

Maybe I'll put her in a crate and send her to Laura

One of my favorite comments on the Pogy & Bess fiasco:

I think I will wait for Diane Paulus' reinvention of Sweeney Todd. I've always been a little put off by all of the bloodshed and of course, it is too reminiscent of the Holocaust to have anyone burned in an oven. I think Mrs. Lovett running off with Sweeney will be much more uplifting, and of course Anthony could use a good home.

I've been watching for your story about Dinah.  Did you really expect them to pick her up after the way they gave her to you?  I'm glad the situation has begun to improve.  Good 'ol Fletcher, still a funny sweet boy.

I'm alive, after a night out with too much gin & not enough water. Whoops! Off to the lake today for camping with my bestie & her kiddos. Hopefully we'll have a great view of the Perseid meteor showers!

Back for a bit.  I still have more errands to run, but thought I'd better get the deli items from our favorite lunch place in the fridge.
