Congrats to DR JOHNG on his book contract.

DR JOSE has more going on in the next few days than I have planned for the rest of the year!
Thanks, JRand.

Congrats on the sellout, BK. Is this the fastest seller you've had? If not, what sold quickest?

After reading BK's rant in today's notes, I have  decided to discontinue my work on VIKING WOMEN AND THE SEA SERPENT: THE MUSICAL.

A shame, though. I'm sure it would have revolutionized Broadway.

that is one of the funniest posts you've ever written, DR MBarnum!

I did have a good chuckle over it and forgot to comment. :)

Elmore, the book is called "The Food Lover's Guide to San Antonio." The publisher is Globe Peuquot from the Northeast and if you tell me where in San Antonio you can shop for Asian candies, duck tongues or French mustards then you will definitely be included in the dedication.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if DR Jose can answer at least one of the above.

I finished reading WORK SONG, which I enjoyed immensely, on the Nook.  After reading so many books on the Nook it will feel strange to read a paperback tonight.

DR Laura - So what was DR Sandra "scraping" together earlier?

She was making cupcakes. She put M&Ms in them. Sadly, all the M&Ms sunk to the bottom and made the bottoms as hard as a rock. The tops are good, though.

Sounds like an interesting experiment. I like those brownies where you bake a small Reese's cup into the middle and then cover with more brownie batter.

Well, I'm back from my first band practice.  I knew I was in the right place when the first piece we worked on was "Selections from Oklahoma".  I chuckled and thought of DR Jose.  It's really long so there were some cuts....in our verions Poor Jud doesn't die. lol

Seriously it was fun.  The attitude is really great, everyone just wants to play and enjoy music.  I realized it's been 30 years since I was actively a flute performance major.  Several of the members said "Don't worry, it will all come back"  Everyone is supportive.  The first chair flute is a very young band director at a local school.  She said she's only first chair because no one else wanted it.  Now that's the attitude I need.  We have a lot of music and our first concert is October 23.  I'm going to be practicing a lot between now and next Wednesday.  Tonight i did way too much watching the notes go by

I leave for Albany in the morning for a few days' residency at school. Hope to get started on the book in earnest.

DR Jennifer, i don't think you could call what I did really watching Dancing with the Stars.  I was getting ready for my oral argument before the 8th Circuit. The TV was on, but I wasn't really watching that closely.  I don't have any favorites.  I'm hoping that dancing may improve Nancy Grace's demeanor, but that may be impossible

Thanks Laura, I really did.  I tried to join a group like this in Mesa when I lived there.  The flute section was not at all welcoming or friendly and I only went for a couple weeks before quitting.   I was a bit concerned I'd find the same thing here, but it's the opposite.  If you're interested, here's the band website

Oh and re: Glee what did anyone who watched think of Lindsay (from the Glee Project)?  I thought she was unbelievable.

I didn't watch The Glee Project, so I didn't know who she was.

In case anybody doesn't know who Lindsay was on Glee. She was the girl who starred in the "Anything Goes" number that made Rachel feel so sad!

It's a cool organization.  100% corporate sponsorship so what they do is play concerts only for qualifying non-profit organizations and 100% of all ticket sales go to the nonprofit.  Pretty cool. I guess they get a number of applications from nonprofits each year asking to be beneficiaries of the band concerts
