And I need to get ready to head in for today's shows. My friend, Yosh, is in town this weekend too, so we'll be getting together for dinner between shows today, and then he'll be seeing the show tonight. And then... ???

In any case...

Back in the UK after my Istanbul adventure. My sister's husband (who didn't travel with us) picked up my sister at the airport to take her back home to where they live in Wales. She later phoned to say that even before arriving home she began to feel very unwell with a severe stomach upset - this is an unfortunate hazard of eating unfamiliar food in foreign countries.
Good to find that on return the weather in London is sunny and warm.

Why is it everyone now is a pain in the Ass?
Whatever happened to class?

Whatever happened to Please may I
And Yes thank you
And How charming?
Now every son of a bitch

Whatever happened to class?

This morning I packed my car full of old electronics.  Good grief, I still had fax machines from the early 90s and all sorts of printers, scanners etc from when I had my office in the 90s.  It cost $30 to turn in the whole car load - including a huge old monitor, but I'm really glad to get rid of them knowing they will be recycled and disposed of properly

Today has me thinking about the much-clichéd "six degrees of separation."  The service today is for my close friend, Tracy's, father.  Tracy and I have been super good friends for the last 27 years.  I don't see her as much as we would like, but we still love each other dearly.  The ironic thing is that although I have known Tracy for 27 years, I have known her father and stepmother for over 45 years, and didn't know of the connection when Tracy and I became friends.

Her father is one of the true legends of Tacoma Little Theatre back in the 50s and 60s.  I finally got to work with Milt, when I was cast in THE MUSIC MAN in 1966.  However, I had seen Milt do two of his finest performances years earlier when I saw him as Billy in CAROUSEL and then as Emile in SOUTH PACIFIC.  In fact, it was this production of SOUTH PACIFIC in 1961 which prompted the letter he wrote to his director, which I will be reading today at the reception.

And even stranger is that when Tracy and I first became friends, I was working with her mother, but since they had different last names I didn't know of that connection either.  It just happened that Tracy's mother mentioned that she was going to see her daughter in a play that was opening that night.  I said, "That is strange, because I am working on a show that is opening tonight.  Who is your daughter?"  Small world, ain't it?.

This is a pretty funny clip, if you have a couple of minutes.  If this guy ever preaches at a church near me, I will definitely go and hear him.

We have Century Link which was previously Quest that DR JMK ranted about so often.  Yesterday Century Link had outage problems in our area which the outsource guy in India initially denied existed, calling Keith Stever & confusing our phone number.  He insisted Keith do all sorts of things to the computer connection, unplugging & re-plugging things.  Once he was convinced the problem was not on our end he says, the US just reported an outage. ::)

Once the outage was over we continued to have problems & our speed was ridiculously slow.  Today Keith spoke to someone in the States & they idiot from India had him connect incorrectly.  I have no idea what the filter is but it was plugged in when it shouldn't have been.

We now have a proper, fast DSL connection and my book has downloaded.

Greetings from Washington National Airport.

I normally take a bus and Metrorail to the airport, but the parking lot of my condominium is being painted Monday morning so I couldn't leave my car there.

I thought I'd have to park at the airport ($36), but knew that the Metro has some long term parking spaces.  I tried to park there once before but there were no available spaces, so I didn't have much hope.  But lo-and behold, there was a space!  All I'll have to pay is $4.50 on Monday.

DR Jrand I'm glad you finally have your sister home again.  Sometimes it is very hard to live so far from family.  I really enjoyed by weekend in Lake Arrowhead with mine, it was a very rare treat.
