OY AND VEY AND HAPPY ROSH HASHANAH

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were Rosh Hashanah-like and wished everyone a wonderful Jewish New Year, and now it is time for you to post until the Hassidic cows come home.

Jose, he's working in small stages but I also have/had a lot of work to be done. Most of it is finished. I now have to wait for the crown to be made and put in and then I have just one more tooth to fix which requires a root canal, the post/prep work, taking the impression and making the crown and then the installation of said crown and then I will be done.

It takes some extra time because every procedure has to be reviewed/OKed by one of the dental faculty who supervises each dental student. Each procedure is also limited to only two hours. Someone else may have the chair scheduled for the next two hour slot so  they try to come to a finishing point each time so you aren't left with problems when you leave.

The school was also closed for 2 weeks in late August, reopening the day after Labor Day so that took away two appointment slots as well.

It's winding down and by Thanksgiving I think I should be finished. Hoo and Ray!

DR JoseSPiano

Mentloned Seth McFarlane's new cd. I listen to the clips that amazon provided.

Good voice, but I'm hearing Brian The Dog singing which I gather is the closest to Set M's real voice.

He is also releasing it on vinyl!!!

Good morning, all! I slept well, and I have a busy day today. My first stop in the MTA office to initiate my senior citizen fare reduction. After that I have a round of photyocopying music for Drew Massey, the musicologst doing the liner notes for this New World Records release. That's followed up by a trip to the US post office to send te music over night to Drew. After al of that, we'llsee what new fresh hell awaits.

Yesterday afternoon was crazy; a very nice lady who has a great deal to do with the music of Victor Herbert learned of the EILEEN recording through a couple of my friends.  I think she took it as a deliberate snub that I hadn't contacted her about it. Rather than call me or email me to ask about it, she sent several inquiries on the recording to various folk, even though she knew much more than she was letting on. I feel quite bad that I let the recording slip by her attention; there was no intention to slight anyone; July and the first weeks of August were a madhouse to finish the music, cast the singers, and record. What I'm not happy about is her current approach with her emails; it made for a testy and unpleasanr afternoon. It can only lead to more unpleasantness.

I send thanks to all the DRs with the DC reports on the Library of Congress being open next week. I spent some time yesterday pondering my options about going with Amtrak and the hotel, and things seem okay now for my trip. That's a big relief.

Zumba in a couple of hours.

DR ELMORE thank you so much for mentioning the LA VIE PARISIENNE dvd - what great fun....it was so funny, and the design, direction, and choreography was outstanding!

I liked everyone, but particularly Marc Callahan as Bobinet and Marie Devellereau in all of her roles!  Didn't really like the Metella....although the Baron and his wife were okay.  The ensemble - dancing AND singing - were glorious.  I supposed it would have been TOO distracting if Callahan had forgotten his undies when his admiral uniform split in the back....and the seesaw table...LOL

The two scenes in front of the wall of lights are both hilarious......

Fun for all....

It's a grey day here in Manhattan.

I spent yesterday after work in the dentist chair. Today after work I'm going out for a drink with two colleagues to celebrate my 20 years at the Foundation Center. I started, full-time, on October 1 1991. If they included all my time it would be 28 years. I began as a temp in 1983 when I was still an actor and from 1983 to 1991 I worked at the Foundation Center at some point during each of those years, even if it was only for a few weeks. Wow, 20 years. Whoda thunk it. And I'll probably be here another 7 or 8 years since I can't afford to retire unless I win the lottery. I like to do those luxurious things, like eat and have health insurance and live in a decent apartment.
