Falsettos sounds like a a chore. I'd leave, too, even though I like a lot of the music.

John when your book is finished will it be  available nationally or is it strictly a local production? I was impressed by your cover

DR Doug R - thank you for the photos of your visit to Barcelona.  My sister's genealogy research has recently revealed to us that we have a first cousin in Spain.

And I meant to tell you that my husband had a similar experience in Reims to the one you described the other day.  Our first morning there he left our hotel in search of someplace to get a carry-out breakfast for us and got lost.  He was not properly oriented when he left the hotel and he found that the streets change names from block to block.  He finally stumbled onto a visitors' center near the cathedral and they gave him a handy dandy map.  He made the same comment you did about the city being smaller than he thought.

Did he have a nice day?

Typical Sunday - up early, 4 hours of driving, church and coffee hour.  The only difference today was that I bought lunch.  We've spent the afternoon and evening watching TV and reading the newspapers.  Tomorrow we will go shopping for iPhones - I'm buying him one and he's buying me one  ;)

Legroom was fine, seats were very uncomfortable (basically nice folding chairs).  This theater is located in the old Roland Dupree Dance Studios - they say it became those studios in the 1980s - I would, of course, beg to differ since I took classes from Mr. Dupree in 1962, when it was called - Roland Dupree Dance Studios.  Written about extensively in Kritzer Time.

Sometime in the mid-to-late 90s, I saw a production of Falsettos in Seattle that was directed and choreographed by Stephen Terrell, the choreographer of the off-Broadway production of Das Barbecü that was recorded by BK.

Back from Falsettos and dinner.  I will admit freely I bailed after act one as did Adryan.  I am simply not a fan of the show's director, who works a lot and whose work I always find boring, derivative, and uninteresting, and actually I'm not that big a fan of the March of the Falsettos part of the evening - I find the character of Marvin to be so unlikeable (especially as played in this production) that I just don't see the point of it - I also find Mr. Finn's music and lyrics repetitious and not that interesting, although there are some good numbers.  Cast worked hard but wasn't really up to the material - and the director is just very stock and amateur - and uses Mr. Lapine's chairography a little too much for my taste.  It also had choreography by some guy who was in Movin' Out on B'way - way too busy, way too fussy, and totally not right for this show.

I guess you answered my question

I couldn't imagine a 3 hour hour Falsettos unless they began with IN TROUSERS which is the first "Marvin Musical". But it didn't seem that way. How long did the first act last?

It wasn't really three hours - it was about two hours and thirty-five minutes (or so the box-office person said before the show) with intermission.
