Last night I caught a rerun of SEINFELD, a program I hadn't  seen in reruns in over a year. I just realized that I haven't seen the character that Kramer is based on biking around the nrighborhood in some time. In the early 1980s Jerry lived on West 81st Street, as I recall, and now he's over at Central Park West.

I loved the Episode 2!

And then I found on youtube clips from the Chicago Light Opera Works production of THE GOLDEN APPLE with a good cast and a full orchestra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1khi-gxI-c&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

It's great hearing the full Act one Finale and Judgment of Paris, which are cut on the OBC.
Thank you. Hope to catch that later.

I went on YouTube earlier this morning and watched Danny Burstein's two big numbers from "Follies." Then I clicked on what I thought was the new "One Last Kiss." Turned out to be Joan Roberts, plus a long snippet of Blythe Danner as Phyllis. Danner is incredible. As bad as that production was supposed to be, I always thought she was a perfect choice for Phyllis, at least as an actress.

I'd posted this parody lyric of "Where Are The Snows" from I DO! I DO! in the Times comment box, and someone I trust emailed me that the parody was kind of nasty to jokingly say the show is one of the "straightest" hits of the 1960's.  I meant it as playful, but maybe someone who knows the show can tell me if I'm going too far before i try to record it?  I don't want to offend anyone.

Tune of “Where Are The Snows (of Yesteryear)” (from I DO! I DO!)

When they do shows of yesteryear
They keep our demographic clear
They must attract us gay folk, dear
Otherwise it won’t fly

When they do shows of yesterday
They keep in mind that new cliché
They’ve got to get the crowd that’s gay
We keep attendance high

Old shows are always there on the slate
Still it does seem
They tend to date
If they’re too straight

When they do shows of the classic set
This show may be the straightest yet
(But wait –)
Looks like it’s starring Bernadette!!!

That is a reason why
You bet, we’ll get / right on the net
We’ve really got to buy!

Dale Robertson's daughter lived in Portland and had a band that was supposed to be the next big thing.  I don't believe it became so.  :)

what is the difference between the Nook Color and the Nook Tablet?

Jose - Um... I think there's a side-by-side comparison chart at http://www.barnesandnoble.com/u/nook/379003208

From what I can tell, the main additional feature of the Tablet is the built in HD Hulu and Netflix streaming capabilities.

Read David Pogue's comments about it, though because the "HD" claims, according to Mr. Pogue, (a trustworthy source) are exaggerated.

Nook Tablet

Oh, by the way,

Morning all.

That is all.

One of the differences between the Nook Color and Tablet is $50.00

I've been seriously looking into which one to buy the Nook or Kindle. An IPad is too expensive for just being a reader.

I went to the B & N Botique last night and looked at Nook Color. (Tablet doesn't interest me)

Today I will go to Staples and look at the kindle, I'm leaning towrds the Nook because there larger selection of books, you can read books in the store. There is an yearly fee of $80.00 for the kindle if I understand what Pogue said in his article. B & N discounts their ebooks. You can join there B & N club for $25. They will put that towards the cost, but the club doesn't work on the ebooks.

I will make my decision after I go to staples

Love Psycho the Musical. Watched it three times one after another and laughed and laughed and laughed.

Was always curious what the lyrics sounded like put to music. I remember reading some of the songs years ago.

DR TCB also asked why Canadian Thanksgiving is in October.  I looked it up and apparently:

Canada has an earlier harvest season than its neighbors to the south. Crops are usually all harvested by mid October therefore the celebration of Thanksgiving is during that month.  Many Canadian provinces also receive Remembrance day (November 11th) as a holiday. In order to break up the holidays, Thanksgiving was placed in October, between the two holidays Labour Day and Remembrance day.

There is also Canada's long association with Britain where the harvest cycle begins with Lammas Day (August 1st) ends at the autumnal equinox in late September. This time of year is associated with the celebration of bounty since the 6th century and is marked by church and laic celebrations

Jennifer beat me to it.

It has to do with weather. But with global warming the growing season has been extended

I'm up after nine hours of very needed sleep.  Glad to hear the nice comments about episode two.  Other than little nips and tucks in the set-up scenes for all the episodes, this one was the only one where I nipped and tucked the first and second numbers because it was running a minute longer and at seven and a half minutes I felt it just was overstaying its welcome.  So, we cut the entire intro to Showering My Troubles Away - it was good, but in the end I felt we should just get to it, and I cut the final verse of Nobody Here But Mother, even though it contains the punch line to the song, because I just felt we'd had the fun by the end of the bridge.  The editor totally agreed and had been thinking the same thing.  I do have the full versions of both and will probably start posting that stuff on the Outside The Box website, as soon as I get the time and finish everything else.

You are supposed to get an e-mail - not as a subscriber, but because of the bulletin I posted.  That's supposed to go to all the subscribers - I got one (I subscribed under my other youtube name, haineshisway).  Maybe it's your settings?  Don't really know how that works.  But I've never got a notice JUST as a subscriber.

Great lyric. Fits in with a book I'm reading now, a bit of theatrical theory called "Something for the Boys." (I haven't read a book with that many typos in ages.)

BTW: When I think of leading men actors in the Robert Preston/Hal Linden mold, I always think of Martin Short. Whatever happened to Brian Stokes Mitchell? Too many flops?

I've had one fun comment from someone who said the setting and background out the windows reminded her of the old tryout days. She also found it funny.

I love Martin, and he provided my (and FJL and Skip's) close personal friend Brooks Ashmanskas with a much deserved Tony nomination, but are you serious?
