Good morning.  Couldn't sleep so I got up.  It's -7 outside, so I decided not to go to work early

TOD

The Andromeda Strain.

When I read and saw it all those years as a teen I didn't realize it was fiction

And getting ready to go to work

The voice is a tad raspy. So we'll see how long it will stay that way.

Good morning, all! I slept very poorly, so I know that after my day of errands, I will want to fall over when I get home around 3:30 today.

I foolishly agreed to deliver the new CDs to a few of the acknwledged people, rather than have them shipped by New World Records, so that's my day: the Cole Porter Trust gets two, and one to Alyce Mott, who works with the Victor Herbert Foundation and edits a fascinating newsletter. She's been very helpful and supportive of these two reocrdings of piano & cello and songs.

Yesterday I got through all most Act Two of the DEAREST ENEMY vocal score, so I have the Fibale Act Two and Epilogue left. Before I head out, I'll try to finish up the Finale Act Two.

I hate this weather: warm enough that I'm sweaty and sleeping badly, feeling puny, uncertain how to dress for going outside, and generally discontent. I'll be glad when the freezing cold lands.  I want this apartment cold enough to hang meat.

I guess the advantage of being a registered Democrat this week is that I won't get Mitt or Newt calling me. Newt's in Manhattan at the moment. Our loss is the world's gain.

Coffee and meds,

Got an email late last night from a friend who has just been diagnosed with breast cancer. I made Sue's wedding cake when she and Wayne got married about 11 years ago. And they essentially let me have my house by letting me assume the payments on it when I moved in.

Very cold today. I think I'll put on my overcoat and scarf for my trip on the river and into town for the regular Tuesday eats and drinks.

Elmore, I like your reasoning on registering Democrat, except for the fact that I've been an independent since I first registered to vote. Plus, I like telling the people from their campaigns what I truly think of the candidates they support. I don't know if ears of the woman from the Cain campaign are still ringing, but I tried my best.

Plus, I get to do that with candidates of both parties.

Or maybe The Three Practical Guys. People always need hats, bread, and um, bagpipe music.

A little Weatherbug tells me that it is 35 degrees outside, which is cold for us. There's ice covering the birdbath.

Jennifer my concern is I will not be able to see without my glasses & trip walking around the pool.  I've always been able to swim with my eyes open & do so which is why they are hurting so much now.  Extra water splashed into my eyes while I was in the hot whirpool after my swim.

Do you have any brand suggestions, good or bad?

I think the brand i have is Leader. But if you buy them anywhere but at your pool the person there should know something about goggles. And you can try them on and see how they feel.

Can you bring your glasses into the pool area and then just take them off and leave them in your bag right before you go in?  What do you do now (i'm assuming you don't swim with your glasses on)?

I guess you just got used to swimming without goggles and i got used to them at a young age. My eyes are very sensitive. I can't stand getting chlorine in them. I actually swim with a nose plug too. I can't stand getting water in my nose. :)

DR cillaliz, can you see who is calling by looking at call display? (not sure if all politicians put private number or something like that so people will answer).

I'm sorry, JRand. Sugarfoot was fortunate to have found your sister. She never would have survived this long in the wild.
