As I was saying...

I headed to the theatre yesterday afternoon for a bit of practicing as well as a costume fitting of sorts - I'll be wearing a tail jacket. I think. A little while after I arrived, the other pianist arrived, and we did a play-thru of the score. It's a lot of notes and a lot of info to retain, but, as I was reminded when I watched the show last night, there's plenty of time to "look ahead and review" during the book scenes. And since they made basically no cuts to the book scenes, well, I'll have the time. -This production runs a solid three hours (including the intermission).

Lerner & Loewe, you know.  I hope we get photos of said tail coat.

And now I need to scurry and hurry so that I can get to the theatre for a bit more practicing before today's matinee. Hopefully, I'll be able to check back in between show.

I have too many posters as it is, though I do have some really stunning stuff with Frances.  Those late 30s, early 40s posters are works of art.

Nice photo DR GINNY!

I wondered if he'd tweet it during the ceremony, but it looks like he waited until a couple of hours after it was over.

I'm getting to be the age where I'm thinking of what's going to happen to all of this stuff.  Watching Candy Spelling divest herself of her 70,000 sq. ft. of crap (technical term) on her HGTV special made it seem more real to me, somehow.  :)

I found Candy Spelling's taste in interior design mortifying.  But she actually seemed like a rather nice, non-stuck up sort of woman.

Today we deliver the food and gifts to the needy family.  Zach is attending a friend's Bar Mitzvah and so is excused, but Gabe must come, and he's moaning about it, teenager that he is.

Herbert Lieder - didn't he play the father on Dennis the Menace on TV?

He has a conductor son, Foleau D. Lieder.

The original title for CLASSICAL BARBRA was going to be FOLLOW THE LIEDER.  No joke.

Greetings from Toyland! I got here to find our internet was out, so I spent 30 minutes restarting, unplugging, rebooting, unplugging, restarting,  and rebooting. We're back!

Note from Hitch to Wilder: "Dear Sir: I had the very great pleasure of seeing a lovely picture the other night, and would like to say that the two most important words after 'Double Indemnity' are 'Billy Wilder.'

It is a play on the famous ad by Selznick saying the four most important words in motion picture history were Gone With The Wind.

If anyone here has missed any Kritzerland releases, I have a handful of copies of almost (but not all) of everything we've released.  You can view the complete releases, even sold out titles by clicking on the link just above where the current titles are listed on the home page.  Just drop me a line and I'll let you know if the title is available.

I was browsing eBay last night and was shocked to see how much some of our stuff is going for - signed Chitty went for seventy or eighty bucks last week.

I did have some good news today, though. Dad got the results of his CAT scan and there was no sign of cancer. The doctor must have gotten it all when she removed that polyp.

From Bruce,
Quote
I would no sooner e-mail Miss Gordon's husband than e-mail the owner of a certain record label

Now that you have mentioned this.......  I only plan to send a card with a note to her mother.  If someone were to write to her house I expect the children will appreciate it.

I've been told Susan's grave site is at the top of a hill overlooking flowers and lovely scenery, that it is beautiful.

DR Jane, I just dragged myself to the basement for a 30-minute walk.  I've gotten very lazy amidst all the holiday prep and graduation festivities and I have to get back into a daily routine.

Actually, I had this a bit wrong and the story is much more fun.  Selznick took a huge number of ads in the trade magazines trumpeting Since You Went Away as the four most important words in motion picture history since Gone With The Wind.  Apparently these ads irked Billy Wilder, who then took an ad just like Selznick's that said "Double Indemnity are the two most important words since Capital Gains."  Selznick was not amused but Hitchcock was, hence the note.

That's all detailed in one of the Billy Wilder bios.  So, it's an important little note from one brilliant director to another, both of whom had wicked senses of humor.  It's being framed now.
